I know it's fugly. Using a period Coors can bottom for a spacer so it can't drop any lower.
From Bro's pic it's hard to tell if the bracket on the valve cover goes to the throttle rod. Although you can clearly see his bellcrank arm is sticking straight up how I picture it should be. At that pivot point is where it engages the accelerator.

Thanks for the pic Shane. It looks like everything is correct on my linkage as far as parts. For some reason it seems the (bellcrank?) is over pivoted at idle and the rod is dang near laying on the manifold. On depressing the pedal the crank pivots to where I would imagine it should rest at before actuating the throttle on the carb. Is there a bracket or something that is supposed to hold the rod parallel to the manifold or anything supportive like that?

Hey guys I was hoping someone could post a pic of the stock throttle linkage from firewall to carb. Specifically the rod and attachment to carb, along with an overall picture of the stock rod. Manual transmission if that makes a difference.
Thanks!

Wow, what a weekend.
Spent Saturday finishing passenger side of front end. Lower control arm was pulled from another a body apparently, had an oval rear bushing. Ugh. Front brakes all tuned up with some new shoes, etc.
Took her out and did my first burnouts.
Sunday was electrical city. Got all running lights wired up (only had headlights) due to a short in the column harness. Aftermarket tach hooked up and clutch adjusted. Miles of unnecessary wire pulled out. Needs new clutch and throwout bearing.
Monday was rear brakes/parking brake and bleeding all lines. Brakes feel amazing. Didn't previously have rear brakes. The adjusters were frozen and parking brake wasn't working. Previous owner drove it like that for years. Had to pop 3 bleeders out and pressurize to blow the lines out.
Now I gotta drop the trans and get to the clutch. ANY info on the HD3 clutch assembly would be extremely helpful. (And yes I've read all the available info on the forum and Bro's site).

Hey guys, this forum is amazing. I'm the new owner of a 1965 Sport Coupe. The car was previously owned by a good friend since 1994ish. It has been sitting for quite a long time due to him not having a spot to keep it, so it lived in a 3rd party's sideyard for several years. I decided to strike up a deal with him to bring this amazing ride back to life.
It's a 65 Sports Coupe (post) Fremont car with Hurst 3-on-the-floor, power steering, non-AC. Mostly original minus the radiator, steering wheel, wheels. I have a different 4GC on it right now, but have the original in box needing rebuild. It needs some pretty extensive body-work, including a driver's side inner and outer fender (from throwing a tread at 80mph), and core support from battery leakage and extensive rust. Finding body panels is no fun for the 65 as you all well know. Lots and lots of little stuff that i'm finding missing or incomplete along the way. Interior is beat but liveable for now.
Originally red on red, but is painted (spraycan) white from when previous owner tried to "pretty it up" to keep at his apartments.
I've been working now on getting it driveable. It runs fine but needed the gas tank cleaned and lined, front end rebuilt (no control arm bushings whatsoever), clutch pedal welded (where it's pressed onto pin) and brakes rebuilt. Tank is done, clutch pedal welded and frontend is half done so it's almost ready to roll.
I'll update with some pics and more info as I think of it.
Thanks for all the info i've gotten from this forum and BRO's site. Can't wait to learn more and dive-in to this car head first.
