Got a response to my wanted post in a local Oldsmobile publication from a guy who has the '64 steering wheel I mentioned. He also has a '64 automatic console and complete linkage setup. He didnt tell me a price but if anyone happens to be interested, I'll find out for you. I think he said it's in pretty nice condition. -grant

I have a pretty nice standard coupe steering wheel complete with nice horn button. First $100 takes it. 65 steering wheel (no horn parts, some cracks) $100 Can you post pics? And here I go with a newb question that's probably been answered many times... Is there such thing as a Standard vs Deluxe steering wheel? OPGI has a "Walnut Wood" 3-bar steering wheel. Did these come in 442s? which one do I need??

The car in vancouver is still available...I was going to buy it and went to get it....It was not as described...a real piece of junk...wouldnt run properly...rust holes everywhere ...Had a good dash pad thats about it...really pissed me off...Why do people color their descriptions? Do they think you will still buy it? It's no longer on Craigslist. If I remember right, the post said minimal rust. Where was the rust? typical floor pans, quarters, etc? When my dad puts this Holiday Coupe together, he'll need inner fenderwells, grille, front core support, etc.

Are '64 steering wheels the same as a '65? There is a guy local with a decent '64 wheel.

hey Ralph, unfortunately it doesn't have any of the three parts you mentioned, (unless the bumper jack is hidden under the piles of parts inside the trunk). I need all three of those items for my 442 also! It's not a 442 so the air cleaner wouldn't be correct anyhow. It had a K&N lid and element, which the guy kept for his other F-85. -grant

Might not have mentioned it yet, but I rented a 1800 square foot warehouse in downtown LA a few months back with a friend to work on and store our projects. Well, all this space is getting me in trouble.
Last Sunday I was browsing around Craigslist. I was actually trying to find the '65 F-85 four door listed in Vancouver B.C., which has since been sold. My dad is close enough to have gone and picked that up. I needed the front radiator support parts (brackets that the lower radiator sits in) and I was going to see if the driveline was the same length. (I threw mine at about 70 on the freeway a few weeks back and it's got a slight kink now).
Anyhow, found a posting for a '65 Cutlass Holiday Coupe close by in LA. It had been posted for about an hour before I saw it. Within 30 minutes I was in the truck to go look at it.
No motor or trans. Guy told me that it originally came with a 400. Not sure about that yet but I'll try to run the numbers. He also said it was garaged for 25 years before being torn apart to start this project that never got finished. It does look like that may be the case. It might have a limited slip in the rear but the brakes are hung up so it's hard to tell. It has the driveshaft I need and rear yoke to replace my busted yoke. If it's a limited slip I'll swap that out. Very little rust. a little bit under the rear window rubbers. underneath the car looks very clean. the front end is off the car and the grille and inner fenderwells are missing. Hood and fenders are in decent shape. Floor shift auto with a console and original shifter intact. havent been able to dig the console out to look at it. missing front seats but the rear seat, headliner and instrument cluster is in nice shape. (dash pad shot)... It has all new bushings in the front suspension and steering components. Converted to front discs already. (missing the booster).
He wanted $900. Offered him $500 and we settled in the middle at $550.
Anyhow, thought it would be a good car to part out until I called my dad. About two minutes into that conversation he laid claim to whatever is left over after I take what I need. When I bought my 442, it gave him the '65 bug again. He's coming down from Seattle to pick it up in a couple weeks. haha. no longer a parts car.
I'll post some pictures soon.

Thanks. How can you tell? The only thing that looks a little bit different from the one on your website is, maybe, the spout is a little shorter on this one. Is that what tipped you off?

Ran across this the other day when trying to find a replacement for craigslistcrawler.com, which no longer works. www.searchtempest.com/depending on how you like to search, it works pretty well.

Did any of you ever attempt to contact this guy? I emailed him and got a response about a week later. I got him on the phone once but couldn't get a price out of him. He made it pretty clear that he did not want to deal with me because I was out of state. I tried to explain that I would make it very easy for him, but now he wont answer the phone.
Do we have any members in Florida?

I've done it. Door windows, etc. I try to use a box that has a few inches of room on all sides then use crumpled up newspaper or similar to surround it snugly and completely. Mark it fragile and INSURE it.
I'm not sure, but I think if you wrap it in cardboard and someone tosses it into a truck, it's almost bound to break.

There was a pair of heads in the trunk of my 442 when I bought it. Numbers on each side of the center of the head read 389 395 and the letter stamped is "B".
According to Bro's website, those would be '66 400 heads, correct? Does the website read that they would be 425 heads too, or is that number left blank to be filled in later?
Surface rust, 7 of the 8 intake valves intact but don't look very good, no assembly... pretty much bare.
Are they worth anything?

You could NEVER get away with that in California. They let you transfer plates from one car to another? Man... that would be nice.
