I chuck it in a vise, open the hinge so the tension is mostly off and then use a long screwdriver or pry bar to pop it off.they make a tool for this, its just a section of pipe with the side cut out and a half moon piece welded at each end, open the hinge, slip it on then close the hinge.

also be aware the right cowl is different, part of the ac unit sets inside of it behind the fender. the side vent is also in a different position. I removed the ac on my 65,changed the vent location so the kick panel and vents fit right, changed the front of the cowl panel, blocked 2 holes in the firewall. you will need to do the opposite to fit factory ac in a non ac car.easier to do aftermarket ps,your heater controls from 65 wont fit the 68,they will also need changing

i have seen shifters from 73 77 cutlass in those consoles,i used one in my racecar and reworked the detent plate for a 2 spd. I have shifter and detent plate if interested. no shift knob, I think a gbody shifter will work also, with a reworked detent plate. contact rob 5176142324

got mine from supercars unlimited and they are bigger than the hole in the frame. plus all I got was the square mount. going to try elsewhere. not knocking supercars as the did a great job of retrieving my bolts from their supplier.

years ago I got a resin cast from someone on ebay. I haven't finished it yet. most of the identifying traits were out of proportion, tail lights were way small,no turn signals in the bumper, hood shape in the front was off. most of it is corrected now, itll still take me forever to finish. resin is way different than styrene. body was cast from 64 promo model, they say to use 67 cutlass frame,i have an amt 64 cutlass frame for mine.

I went from door hinges to the striker bolt. vee shaped. bolted a plate to each hinge area and one to the striker bolt then welded 1x1 square tube to them.you are probably fine with the doors on as long as you don't want to work inside of it.

I welded in some temporary braces from the rear of the trunk to the hinge pockets, ant some 1x1 braces on the door areas. my trunk was all cut out and the tail panel was loose at the welds, I worried a little till I got it on the rotisserie.
