I am taking my 65 400 ci engine apart to put a roller cam in it. When I took out the pistons I was kind of perplexed a little. They were 3.9565 in diameter with a casting number of 389299 which I can't find in any parts book. There are 2 Fs on each side of the wrist pin. A GM cast in with a circle with a one. The one thing I don't understand is 2 Vs cut into the piston next to one another. I am assuming that they are original from the factory. Can anyone help me understand this. JIM

I have the correct brackets for a 1965 A/C compressor. This one has the A on it. That was only available on the 65 air cars. If you still need one. Thank you JIM

I just tore down my 65 400. I am kind of curious about the pistons. They are flat top and have two v notches together on the outside. Inside the number is 389299 and it says GM. I can not find it in the parts book. Because it says GM I am sure they are original. The diameter is 3.9565 the wrist pin diameter is 0.9865. There are two F's one on both sides of the wrist pin. A1 with a circle around it above the GM. If anyone can tell me about this piston I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You Jim Hald

Could someone please tell me if they know a place I can purchase a good quality of bronze paint for my 1965 400 engine. A long time ago I was getting it from Supercars unlimited. But now I don't know if there is a better place to get some. Thank You JIM

I am looking for a good 11 inch flywheel that will fit a 1965 442 400 ci engine. I think it will also fit 330,425 of the same year. I believe the number is 389248 Thank you. JIM

I need some weatherstriping for a 72 cutlass supreme 2dr hardtop & 65 cutlass 442. 2dr hardtop. Where does everyone think the best place and the best quality to purchase it from. SoffSeal, Steele Rubber, Metro Moulded parts. Or maybe places like Year One, Original Parts Group or some place like them. The most important thing is how close to original they are and the ease of putting them on the car. I thank everyone for the help. Have a great 4th of July holiday to everyone. JIM

I SENT MY CARB TO SPARKY'S AND STILL HAVE TROUBLE WITH IT WHEN IT CAME BACK. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE WHEN I EXCHANGE IT WITH A REGULAR 4GC WITHOUT THE PLUGS FOR THE JETS IN FRONT. THEN EVERYTHING WORKS FINE. EXCEPT THEN I DON'T HAVE THE CORRECT CARB ON. ONE WITH SMALLER THROTTLE PLATE HOLES. MINE DOESN'T HAVE ANY TAG ON IT TO TELL IF IT IS THE CORRECT NUMBER. BUT ALL OF THE THINGS I CAN CHECK LOOKS LIKE THE CORRECT ONE. I DON'T MIND SENDING IT ANYPLACE AS LONG IT IS FIXED RIGHT. ANOTHER SMALL NOTE I AM RUNNING AV GAS 100 OCTANE LOW LEAD I DON'T THINK THAT SHOULD MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE. IT WORK'S OK WITH THE OTHER CARB THANK YOU AGAIN JIM
