I am taking my 65 400 ci engine apart to put a roller cam in it. When I took out the pistons I was kind of perplexed a little. They were 3.9565 in diameter with a casting number of 389299 which I can't find in any parts book. There are 2 Fs on each side of the wrist pin. A GM cast in with a circle with a one. The one thing I don't understand is 2 Vs cut into the piston next to one another. I am assuming that they are original from the factory. Can anyone help me understand this. JIM

The part number in the parts book is the number for the pin-fitted piston assembly. It is not the casting number you see on the piston.
