I havent seen this one in person but Ron Frye has. He has an interesting story on it, I hope he tells it here. From the ad - Very rare 442 - One of only 30 4-speed F-85 coupes believed to be built - Complete original interior with factory plastic seat covers There is only one thing I believe in the above. That the car is an F85. you must know something about this car. Because it is possible for a car to survive all these years and still have the original interior. My dads 57 is a fine example of that. Still has the original interior with the factory plastic seat covers.

Short story is ,i looked this car over real good and it was not 442 at all .Tried to get him to open the hood after he said it was a lansing car to look at the data plate and he wouldnt, even the doors and trunk were open but not the hood.Car had a standard f85 frame ,the holes for rear 442 emblem were drilled and there was evidence of the f85 holes being filled among other things. This guy knew what he had and still mis represented it.He was a cocky prick too.shame somebody spent good money on a clone and not even a good one.

Best part of the story was Ron told the guy he had "one of these at home" The guy responded "a club coupe?", then asked Ron if he knew what a club coupe was.
I wonder if the new owner has found Bros dataplate page yet.

Too funny. The only reason I put a dime into mine was that 4V on my Lansing plant. But I plan on sending mine to Barret-Jackson next March to fund my 70 SS454 Chevelle project. Let us see what a 7/10 real auto 442 might be worth. Hoping desperately the color change from white/white to red/black. And I get to break my promise to the original owner on busting out the paperwork. The guy was hugely private and only gave me the POP and window sticker if I kept it private. I actually bought it from the guys son and the original owner, from what I can tell, still to this day lives within 50 miles of where the Silver Goat (BR{}) lives. The car was sold new very close to the old bastards current addy. For all I know Bro might have seen the car in Alquipoopoo back when it was new. And I also have a copy of the original Pennsylvania title. And the 1980 title from Tarpon Springs Florida. It was sold new in Lebanon.

I was at Alliance when that car was there. When I first arrived the hood was open, but when I was coming up the isle, to look at it, the guy closed the hood and refuse to open it back up. He wouldn't give a reason why, other than he was tired of people questioning it. No shit! He simply didn't have the answers. His 442 emblem on the rear always looked too close to the center bar to me, but since I don't have one to compare, I could be wrong or at least mistaken.

Ram Z...This car has been in my family since early 1966. My parents purchased it through a bank repossession for $1100.00 with the odometer reading approximately 2000 miles. I came along in 1968 and for the most part, the car was used as a grocery getter during the week and as the town terror on the weekends. In 1974, the car was parked in the garage and remained there until 1987. As a kid, I must have driven a million miles in this car and never left the garage. After graduation, I was able to talk Dad into getting the car out of the garage and get it back on the road. From the years of sitting, the lower quarters and wheel lips were beginning to rot as well as the body mount braces. The front bumper had two big holes in it, but the back was in good condition. In 1989, I pulled the body off of the frame and began the restoration. Everything was going well until my father passed away in the Spring of 1991. At this point, I lost interest in it and put the car in the corner of the garage.

Cont...The engine and frame were finished and the bodywork was underway. Again, the car sat for too many years as I was working and raising kids. In 1998, the garage collapsed under 30" of ice and snow and the Olds took a pretty good hit on the roof that pushed it back and to the right. After assessing the damage, I put the car on a trailer and took it to a local guy that specializes in muscle car restorations. He did a great job getting the roof straight, hanging new quarters, and putting in a new floor and trunk pan. So lately, I have been gathering some parts that were lost when the garage collapsed and started putting it back together. I disassembled the engine again and am going through it again after sitting for 20 years on a stand. It should be back together next month and ready to drop in. Everything in the transmission is new as well as the rear end. The goal is to get it together and ready to roll by next summer. My mother is now 73 and it will be pretty cool to have her take it to the store again.

Rottweiler, your car is a dead match to mine. White, red guts, upper H chrome. Mine came from Ohio too. Seems like a bunch of these coupes went to Ohio.
What happened to the chrome trim on the rear?

Ram Z...Some of the trim was lost over the years. I was able to get most of it back from various sites and contacts. I have the tail panel bars, but not the rocket emblem. That has been difficult to find. I filled the holes because I wasn't sure what the chances were of getting everything I needed to make it right. Once I have all of the pieces, I'll redrill and install everything. I'm still looking for the wheel lip trim. I believe I have one piece but the other three are missing. A last resort for these is the Billions and Trillions guy, but I am very hesitant to deal with him. Something just doesn't seem right there. I have just about everything I need to finish it up, but just need to make time to work on it. The blue coupe on this thread was once owned by a guy just a few miles from here. I saw it in a driveway with the right front wheel off and thought about stopping to see what he was doing with it. Hindsite being what it is, I should have. They sold it for $2000.00 to another guy that owned a local transmission shop. I believe he has since sold it. Not sure where it went.

Question for the C-C aficionados.
Is the optional trim around the wheel openings and the rocker panel the same as on some 64 Cutlass'?

See the knees of the person in the first photo??? That is me pulling parts and I can tell you the visors are far beyond good or even driver quality. Not worth salvaging, otherwise I would have taken them The floor is swiss cheese, along with trunk, lower rear quarters and underside of trunk lid. Interesting car to say the least. More on this one in the weeks to come......

Notice it has the H chrome, the door sill chrome, the rocker/rear/wheel well trim, drip rail trim and the window frame trim. Has every trim option available. VERY late build, 4th week of July. And it has an E block 400 in it. Original? ?
