Finally got some pictures of the dashes I had repaired. These are not quite final products. The guy who did the work said they still need to have the correct color applied to them and some minor touch-ups so he's not totally done yet. He wanted to have the one we're going to use closer to the car so he could come over and help us finish it. One thing I'll say is that this was more of a test than anything. I'm happy with Dash2, not as happy with Dash1, but the price was right. It was around $300 for both. Terrible lighting problems and my camera didn't take very good pictures. What can I say... Dash 1 www.autophilia.com/projects/442/dash/Dash1/index.htmlDash 1 has a nicer frame. I got it from a guy who had it in his garage in Spokane. It was black when I got it. The blemish on the left far edge will be hidden when painted. The middle section had a slight repair and the far right. This one he said he wants to do a little more work on. The dash pad texture didn't come out spot on, but it may not even be noticeable once in the car. (I'm going to install it to see) He said the middle of the dash would need some heat applied to it once it was in a car and the little unevenness you see would shrink up. Dash 2 www.autophilia.com/projects/442/dash/Dash2/index.htmlDash 2 came out of a four door parts car that was sitting in the woods for quite some time. The dash was green and was laying in the floor of the car with a couple windows blown out. It's interesting to note how well it held up after so many years versus a dry climate car like my Sports Coupe that is like paint chipping off it's so dry. Anyhow, it only had a couple blemishes and the repairs came out quite nice. It still needs to have the correct color applied. As you can see the frame is not in as good of shape but I'm going to clean that up and hit it with rust-inhibitor and it should be fine. (side note: Permatex Extend Rust Inhibitor is pretty impressive stuff.) The glove box door also came out well. The glove box door only had a couple minor flaws. I will be using Dash 2 in my Sports Coupe. I'd part with Dash 1 after the guy does a little more work to it but I'd consider it a driver dash of course. A lot of the flaws will not be easy to see once up in the car. So the vinyl guy said the spots he repaired (some you can't even see) are going to be much stronger but without re-doing all the vinyl the un-repaired, original areas are still subject to issues if proper care is not taken. That's kind of a given unless you're going to pull the vinyl off and re-do it. If you are interested in larger pictures let me know and I can email them.

Gun Safe, new work boots, some 7mm rounds, Dream Garages coffee table book... no wife or kids here so just family stuff... Oh, and 6 days straight working on the 442.

Spent the day working on the 442 with pops and eating left-overs... Not a bad way to spend the day (even though I got a nasty cold while up here.)
Don't put too much egg nog in your rum.

I emailed the guy but he hasn't replied. Just got to my parents place and I'll be here 10 days. Looks like a Holiday Coupe. Spo-compton is about an 8 hour drive. For that price, that car is probably gone. -grant

Interesting. Not really my style but cool that he did it. I do like wagons though too... I try not to admit it. Years ago I had a '63 Nova Wagon. My friend recently picked one up that already has a 283ci in it. I almost bought a '55 Chev Sedan Delivery with a healthy 350 and a 4-spd when I was 16 but my dad said it was too much for a 16 year old. (probably was) Bought my '72 Blazer instead. I recently found myself drooling over a CTS-V Wagon parked in a parking lot. My idea of a family car. Dont remember if I shared this one. Saw it at Super Car Sunday in Woodland Hills.

Welcome aboard. Which flavor of '65 do you have? Where are you from?

Thanks guys. Already put in the order for the Anti-Squeak kit and the gas tank insulation pad from The Parts Place. If they don't look like what I want to use, I'll return them. I'll let you know.

I've got two dash pads with a guy right now being repaired. Similar condition to what you guys are describing when they were dropped off. Checked in on him a couple of weeks ago when I was up there. It's not a "slap some goop on it" type of fix. He really seems to know what he's doing and is taking his time with it. I am going to be back up there (Washington State) next weekend. He said they should be done by then. I'll take some pictures then.

Bill, Your car started life as a V6 Club Coupe, correct? That steering wheel is probably the original one from your car, I would suspect. Or was that established?

Very cool. Questions if you have the numbers handy: 1. final drive ratio out of the transmission in 4th with new 4th gear? (was 1:1, now...) 2. overall rear tire diameter? 3. what RPM is 70mph now in 4th? 4. M21 or M20?
