So one way filter anti drain back filter arrived today, I'm going to call the previous sentence Plan B. First things first, replace all flex line with new. that don't work test all hard line for leaks and only replace that section. if that don't work replace all hard and flex line. if that don't work which it should, then Plan B.

I plan on running all new hard line also. I have bent and spliced together 4' pieces with rubber fuel line hose but never bent entire coil in one run, this may turn out to be a nightmare. Any tips or should I stick to the 4' pieces connected with rubber fuel line(The half ass way I know). I will do as BR[] said and plug one side and test for a leak first only to reassure my self I need to replace the entire line, and I'm no artist so I'm not too worried about looks underneath car.

So does the " no one ever asked us to" mean we only do what were told and don't give any ideas to a higher power or what. They build cars for the american people correct? I wouldn't last one day working at a company that dosent value employee opinion or customer opinion. It wasn't always about making a buck, Just wait 20 more years.......

It dosent matter how you look at it or even word it, Ford Vs. Chevy has and always will be a huge pissing match. However its more fun to talk shit with your buddies about who's Ford Or Chevy is better than discussing who is republican or democrat, which always turns into an argument. Me personally Im kinda on the fence, Ive owned Ford Trucks and all kinds of Chevy Trucks. Currently Own a 2009 Silverado 4x4 crew cab, That SOB has all the bells and whistles, but for over 40 grand it had better. The Wife drives a Fords Relative, 2006 Mazda 6, and boy is that thing fun, It feels like you are in a huge Go-Kart. We have always Bought new cars every Ten years, next up is the wife and she wants some kind of Lexus SUV, So we will own a Toyota I guess. That will be my first Toyota. All that said I look at it as good MPG and Point A-B, Although Remote Start can't hurt, especially in Wisconsins winters.

Got a vacc. guage. At the fuel pump inlet I got 15 and it would spike up to 20 then down to 15 and back up to 20. as soon as I stopped cranking pressure went to 0 zero. Moved on and reattached all lines and clamps at fuel pump. unclamped hose from sending unit clamped vacc line to fuel line and cranked engine over needle moved but not enough to warrant even a one pound gain. Tried this one several times.

Im going out to my buddies shop and we are going to pull a pump off a 455 he has out their. I will run out a grab a vacc. gauge. I will compare readings to what you have posted, also change plugs and maybe battery isn't up to snuff, even though it starts fine with this battery and the bottle of gas.

Put it all back together with 5 gallons of gas. dumped a little gas down carb and it fired for about 3 sec. unhooked fuel line before fuel pump hooked up a 20oz bottle of gas, turned it over and fired up in about 4-5 sec and two pumps of gas pedal. reconnected fuel line and clamped all down turned ignition on and fired up for about 15-20 seconds then died cause of fuel starvation. cranked and cranked all it did was sputter a lot even when I pumped gas but never refired. now it has to cool down cause starter and battery cable are really hot.

I had blew out the vent line when I blew out fuel line but gas tank was already out. Alittle piece of something came out but I don't believe enough to clog it (Maybe). I will go out and try to get it all back together so I can use all these suggestions, I did not yet plug the vent, had no intentions of doing that without asking here first.

Im going to start by putting tank and sending unit back in, then check all areas where hard line meets flex line for bad hose, after that i will get it started with the 20oz bottle of gas, right before fuel pump inlet, shut it off, reattach fuel line start it again run for five to ten minutes. let it sit for a day, next day pump pedal few times, try to start it. I could always get it to pop on the second day but never actually run. I may of left that last sentence out of the post previously.

I now know exactly what the sending unit does, after pulling it out of the tank i reconnected it and was messing around with it, never seen one before had no clue it just read fuel level. Any way my next thing is about the vent on the gas tank, people at my job said to plug the vent and replace the gas cap and I should be fine. Is their any truth to that? Cant really do anything till I get that check valve one way filter. Whats any ones thought on changing the line from the tank to the pump, could it be leaking even though I don't see any fuel on the ground from the tank to the pump? Lots of dumb questions however I have lots of ideas to try now.

shane after the pump fuel exists in the line all the way to the carb and the bowls are full. I ordered a one way fuel filter with a check valve maybe it will do the trick. Any other advice keep it coming. Next I will have no choice but to re-run all the fuel line.

Ok so I pulled the tank and sending unit, tested sending unit and it works so I then blew out entire fuel line, then realized that I have one fuel filter about one foot from the fuel pump and its not a one way filter so if I install a one way filter near the tank itself I shouldn't run into any problems with fuel draining too far from filter... Duh I never even thought to check my filter. That has got to fix my problem since one way filter will act as a check valve also right.

I will drop the tank and check for leaks or cracks, however I don't see any fuel leaking onto the ground anywhere. As always Thanks for the Tips.

maybe drain tank pull it out, change sending unit, and blow out fuel line. I just don't know why something so simple is causing me such a pain in the ass.

ramz no leak or loose clamp. rickman I bypassed fuel filter and still nothing, however I didn't blow out the line to the tank. What do you guys think about a bad or weak sending unit? On a 65 is that a 3/8 line or a 5/16 line and is it single line or return line?

If my car sits for 6-8 hrs all the fuel seems to drain back into the gas tank. Just spent 500.00 on a new fuel pump and Holley carb hoping that would fix the problem but it hasn't any cheaper ideas? Fuel is in floats but none in fuel line just before fuel pump. Really starting to piss me off.
