Good evening folks it's been awhile, I gotta Question about the quart pan ext,
Is it best to paint them in and out and paint the tail then put them together? or put them on then paint everything?
Also, should sealer be used when putting them on.
im afraid to just put them on, prime and or paint everything and the seam cracks afterwords. all advise appreciated.

I've always had them attached on repaints without any problems. I my memory is correct I've found factory gasket installed, no sealer.

i believe they were off the car as there is paint under them, plus there isnt paint on the small bead seal.

(the era to be precise) I should ask for documentation on the use, or non use of these gaskets !!! If I had the time (whom I kiddin, time I got) or the inclination, I`d go dig thru my pile and find the gaskets I took off both my post cars. They look scary close to the ones in BR[]`s pic. Just playin, not trying to imply anything Gotta run, have to get cleaned up, have an appointment at 425. Ooops, I mean 4:25

Out of three cars from both builders built during differnt periods (Dec 64 - July 65) none had that style. All were identicle and were about 1/8" wide that goes around the perimeter with a channel imbedded in the middlw for a clean seal. Doesnt mean that type wasnt used or was an aftermarket solution however.
