Alright. Put some miles on the 65 yrsturday. We hit Pilot Mountain, then headed over to Mount Airy. Did the squad car tour in a 63 Galaxy 500, and then got a little cozy with Thelma Lou We've had some beautiful weather this week.

Well I spent several weeks working on the right quarter panel on my black holiday coupe. The prior owner had wide tires on the car with air shocks. He let the shocks get too low and the tires rubbed on the quarter panel cracking the filler that was placed on the car to make it straight. So, I hog wheeled off the filler and then painstakingly reapplied at least 6 layers of filler to make the car straight again. The trickiest part was getting the curve correct. Having never done this before, it turned out awesome. After that was all done, I decided it was time to leave Minneapolis and move back to the west coast. Long story, so I will leave it at that. I dropped the black Holiday Coupe at the storage locker in Denver and picked up my convertible to go back to sunny California. Oh, also got the 442 running. I had to tear the upper end off and placed coke in the #8 cylinder. It had a rust ring half way up. The coke worked great. Honed the cylinder, reassembled and she fired right up after not running since 1976. No smoke either!! I started some of the body work as well. Replaced the front roof header with a piece I got off a '65 chevelle. Also fabricated a new upper, front window channel. I fabed up a couple pieces for the cowl but never got around to welding them in. That concluded my summer in the Midwest.

this is a good thread, I took my junk out today, ran the blue ridge parkway, WOW love it , the car makes me excited, the 455 torque is mad fun, the coolest thing today was I ran up on a group of nissan 350zx racers, about 12 of them doing a tour, some stock some modified, we met up at a stop, and i got the "cool car " blabla bla so I asked if they cared if I ran the rest of the parkway with them, the reply was haha if you can keep up, HMMM HMMM HMMM ok I will try, dont you guys make fun of this old man if I cant. 17 miles later I was in the lead, and losing the 350 guys, down in brevard I stopped at the bbq hut, and when they showed up, OMG WTF, lets have some bbq boys, cause the domestic just left the import sandwich!!!!!

Mongoose,
That photo of your car in front of the "66 Barn" is one of the best photo's of a 65 442. Perfect backround, and your car has a perfect stance.
Do you have stock springs/suspension, and what size wheels/tires do you have?
