Mongoose, That photo of your car in front of the "66 Barn" is one of the best photo's of a 65 442. Perfect backround, and your car has a perfect stance. Do you have stock springs/suspension, and what size wheels/tires do you have? Thanks for the complement. I have 2" drop spindles in the front, and the rear springs have been cut, dropping ride height around 1 1/2" (maybe 2"). I'm using the Weld Draglites I've had since 1985, 15x8 (4.5" bs) in the front, 15x8 (5.5" bs in the rear). 12-bolt chevy rearend. Tires are 215/65-15 front and 275/60-15 rear. It's really "snug" in the rear... I had flattened the outside of the inner fender well back in the early 80's as well. The fronts are a totally different matter. I've got to be really careful or I'll catch the fender/trim if I turn the wheel too far. I need at least an inch more negative offset, especially since I had converted to front disks off of a '69 Cutlass back in the 80's as well. I'm needing to get new tires anyway, so I'm thinking about changing to a 255/60-15 in the rear. In the front I'm going to have to do some test fitting. Perhaps the 5.5" bs wheels that I run in the rear (using the same 215/65 front tire) would provide the clearance I need to keep the tire off the fender. I've also considered going to a 15x5" Draglite (3.5" bs) and a semi-skinny Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R 26x6.00R15.

...with stock new (AC) springs? www.summitracing.com/parts/MOG-5244/Found some specs on these on the web: Coil Spring Dimensions End 1 Type: Tangential End 2 Type: Tangential Inside Diameter: 3.630 Bar Diameter: 0.640 Install Height: 11.00 Load: 2124 Spring Rate: 315 Free Height: 17.75 Summit lists these to cover both A/C and non-A/C cars (and big block and small block Olds). And I'm sure factory springs were somewhat different between the two. There's a bit more detail about the spindles and springs in my build thread in the Members section. I recently mentioned somewhere on this board that I think I need a higher spring rate, as the cross-member will scrape if I drive through a dip fast enough.

Hey guys, its been awhile since I have posted but have been lurking around amazed by all of the great cars you guys have. RIP OLDS, your car looks fantastic. Ihave always been a steel wheel, and poverty cap guy (I know) but your car in black with those SS1s looks great. I have put my heap up on jackstands for the winter. The plan is to swap the axles out and put in a spool. Also I want to swap out the steel hood, and front bumper with some fiberglass pieces to take some weight off of the nose.

Mongoose, I am running hotchkins springs. I am not happy with them, its a multi use spring, my car had worn out springs I got the 2 inch drop springs that dropped my car WAY more than 2 inches, that combined with the wheel tire combo caused some problems. I went to MOOG, and a few others and never really got a good answer as far as finding a spring that would lower it 1-1/2- 2 inches. Summit actually offered to take back the springs after we seen the weight ratio ofthe hotchkins spring which is very low, but I kept them due to lack of finding a better option, they ride fantastic with the QA-1 shocks but I still rub from time to time, especially with 3 people in the car, but you know me, I can reshape the fender wells and cure that. I'm gonna cut my rear end soon and narrow it 2 inches (1 inch one each side)
