Back to another question I had. I will assume none of you know the answer to. There were supposedly 10 4 door 1964 442s made. would they have been automatics or standard shifts ? I will assume they were automatics because they were for the police, so then does 442 mean 4 doors 4barrel 2exhaust ? And are there still any around ? So if 10 were produced with automatics then that would mean you could get a 442 with a automatic in 1964 ? Not trying to start a pissing match. Just want some honest answers. I would love to have 64 4door 442 if they ever really made them.

Anyone can start a rumor, with out documentation, but when it's all said and done, it's still just a rumor. I (as usuall) will have to see some shred of documentation before it can move from the BS stage to the point where it's merits some investigation. Anyone can do anything to any car and after 40 or 50 years, try to convince us that it came from the factory that way. If they can't prove it, it' worthless.

According to all published info on 64 442s, Olds made 10 four doors. All were 4 speeds if you subscribe to the 4 speed, 4 barrel, dual exhaust intent of the B-09 442 package. Apparently if a guy says it happened, like if Bro told us he banged Bo Derek back in the 70s (yeah right!), we are all supposed to believe it. With no proof whatsoever or if it goes against all logic and reason. I almost forgot, the auto 442 guy in Wisconsin said there were a few 442 station wagons built too.

The weird thing is we know Earl did it, we know Bill Mitchell did it, we know about Pete Estes' 68 Z-28 convertible, we know Wangers had a 421 GTO in the Car and Driver Ferarri test.....because we have seen the cars and know their history from day one. BTW, Can I offically declare this thread the start of the automatic 64 442 rumor??? I know Mike, this board has gone to hell. What the hell Z? I`m just getting ready to pounce on you for beating up on the english language, and you go do that. Who/what tipped you off? Got key stroke on my laptop? www.englishforums.com/English/CorrectUsageGoneWentEnglishGrammar/pnkrq/post.htmNot to worry, we all make mistakes when we get frazzled ;D

The first I've ever heard about the 4 doors was back in the early 80s I was about 10 years old. I've been looking ever sense for some real proof or documentation. Thats why I ask questions in hopes that there is some real hard facts. And when did the forum become a English test Guys ? Bro also if it ever comes up in conversation they did use 4 speed automatics in 1957 olds 98s And i do have documentation for that. The reason i say that is some bone head was arguing with me about that a while back.

However, I sent in a request to the GM Heritage center and we will see what we get back.

Looks like the owner is pleading his case to someone off camera !!
My guess, "Z" and BR[] telling him to open the hood and provide paper documents, with chain of custody from day 1
Regardless, fine looking car

The owner in is Bros pic. I dont believe what people say at car shows. Ive heard too much bullshit to think otherwise. Especially lies about a car as significant as the elusive as the 64 four door cars. This car was in Dearborn for the OCA meet. At that time it was in original, checked paint state. He told me the Chicago police ordered it and didnt like it. So a officer bought it and his wife used it until she died. At that time the trunk, with paint matching the rest of the car, had two holes pierced with a punch for the brand new emblem on it. And another dude told me the owner contacted him, looking for a correct shifter for it. So yes, I need more than a cute story to make me believe. If I didnt Id have believed the guy that told me his 442 pulled the wheels in second gear and ran 10 seconds back in 65. But in both cases, the 64 and the hot rodder who was pulling wheelies, I said cool and moved on. I dont ask for paperwork or call fake to anyones face. I know that goes against Dulaks opinion of me.

Seriously !! As if dulaks opinion matters !! Prior to this, I would have to say, if asked, my only opinion would have been anal retentive, not necessarily a bad thing. but after that rant, I`d have to include, paranoid.
Now, take a deep breath, exhale !! Now, ALL BETTER
