Try getting a bell crank for a Tri-Carb setup. I believe it will give you more travel . T hat way you won't have to go to a cable. I believe Walt Vallalunga sells them.

This replaces the bell crank on the linkage at the firewall. the rod runs from here to the carb.

I'd definitely look along the line that your thinking vs. going with a cable setup. Either increase the travel of the linkage at the firewall by relocating attachment points or lengthening the pivot arm... OR... alter where the linkage attaches to the carb throttle linkage to move it closer to the pivot point (less travel required to reach full throttle.
My Holley has 2 or three holes in the carb linkage, which allowed me to select a point that will give me full travel of the butterflies.

I know this is going to sound really weird but when I put the Holley carb setup on mine(w/auto trans), the linkage using the original setup would not allow the carb to go to WOT. What I figured out was to turn the linkage rod end for end(threaded adjustment end at carb), putting the snap-on part on a ball-cock at the carb and the bent "L" end at the throttle linkage(near fire wall) in a hole that was just above the factory ball-cock. Sounds weird but it completely solved the WOT problem and cost nothing.

I used the same method as Gary did-I think I had to re-thread the rod,but not sure. If the tripower bellcrank is used, are we still allowed on the 65 site? : 0 ---bil

Moved the throttle linkage to the top hole on the throttle mechanism on the firewall. It's not supposed to go there so had to improvise but now have plenty of movement to cover the full range. Will send a picture tomorrow. Better part was the total cost was "0" ;D
