Just curious, is there some reason people choose to move the battery to the trunk?

Moving weight from the front of the car to the back improved traction at the drag strip. This is why the 66-67 W30s did that. For most people who just drive their cars to and from cruise night, it's just for appearances.

Joe you're right. Adding weight is not helpful for performance but moving it from the front to the back where it is needed for traction makes good sense.
