I would like to intsall these on my car . Sinse I have a auto trans I think these look KOOL . Any help , comments , sugestions ? Don't rag on me to much .

I have idea on that one. I would think a 4 speed shifter wouldnt work that well with a three speed trans. But I have no experience with that shifter. Id probably ask the G body Hurst guys what they think.

Lurefix, I'm quite sure you will get ragged on by some, too much? That remains to be seen! I have always been a proponent of these types of swaps/upgrades. I like the idea of taking different, newer year Olds parts and installing them in an older models. When I was working on restoring my Cutlass vert I had started on adding a set of '70 sport mirrors and replacing the console with a console from a '70 442 with a Hurst DualGate shifter. I always thought that would make a great combination. I think the biggest thing would be to get a console from said '84 442 to make the swap easier. I think that would be an easier swap than retrofitting a '65 console to use the Lightening Rod shifter. However, it might look pretty cool if you could pull it off correctly. Do you plan to use a '65 console, or an '84? I know it's doable you will just end up not needing the 4th shifter. Love to see the finished product.

I know I can come up with a 4-speed top plate, but I think someone already said they had one? Just my opinion, But I wouldn't want to modify an original 4-speed console in any way. They are worth too much these days. I know you can buy repro console bases, I'd rather modify one of those before I’d mess with an original. I don't think I have any spare auto consoles, I have one, but I'm using that in my Cutlass Holiday Coupe I'm eventually going to restore. But as I continue to go through everything I will keep an eye out for auto console parts as well.
