Toady on FB there was a guy who had a holiday coupe that had a dash without a stainless speaker grill. It had the black upper face that hadn't been cut open. It did have a radio that said, "Deluxe" rather than "Oldsmobile".
Now I would have said this is just a club coupe dash...but after thinking about it... Is the dash with the black face NOT indicative to a club coupe, but rather a car without the radio option? Has anyone seen a club coupe with a factory radio without the stainless grill?

My neighbor back in the day bought a 65 442 hdtp new without a radio. It had the blacked out dash with no chrome speaker grill. It looked cool actually. I got the car a couple years later and added a 64 radio as I remember. Attachments:

That's very cool. So black dash was a no radio thing probably... and not specifically a club coupe thing. I just guess a lot of CC's didn't come with radios.
Thank you! -peter

Not that I know for sure, but if it was a "no radio thing" why does it have the holes for the sound to come through?

Thats a good question. Maybe thats just the way they were cast?
My club coupe came sans radio…and it has holes for sure. But I wonder why they would even cast those holes (for sound to come through)…and then cut a bigger hole when they actually mounted a speaker.

Then again I guess some of them could have been added.

I wonder if there's any literature saying that the addition of a radio got you that snazzy stainless grill?

I have a 442 f-85 club coupe that has the factor radio and an antenna without the add on speaker cover and has holes for the speaker which I also have. Would love to find a dash bezel for a floor shift car.
