Vintage air does not offer a kit for the 65 442. Has anyone used the kit from similar A body cars, Pontiac, Buick etc. with any success? If so please let me know which one, and how much of it was usable without modification. I have been told the Buick under dash unit fits, but have no details. If someone else makes a kit, please advise. Thanks

All 64-67 A-body cars use the same under dash and firewall HVAC boxes. The only difference will be how the ducting runs to the dashboard vents.

There's a thread started in January 2019, titled Vintage Air. It lists all the parts that were used in my installation.

I just installed Vintage Air in my '65 post car. I bought the GTO kit, but for next car will order the Chevelle kit. It was a non air car but I installed the '65 a/c vents in center of dash and ends of dash. Had to do mayor surgery for the defroster vents and was able to adapt the GTO vent pieces to the factory vents. The GTO kit has 8 outlets and I only needed 6 so had to plug 2. The Chevelle kit has 6 outlets. Use the factory control panel from a non a/c car and it hooks up perfectly with the Vintage Air control cables. The factory end vents hook up perfectly with the Vintage Air hoses and outlets. I like that all the under hood hoses are routed out of sight on top of the fender well.

Great info. Can you tell me where the compressor mounts, and how you handled the extra belt for the compressor. I'm a decent fabricator, and can make a compressor bracket if necessary. I could change the water pump and pulley if need be. Am I correct in understanding that you had stock A/C vents? I will have the dash pad and face our for other work when I do it, so fabricating defroster connections should not be an issue. Did you use the Vintage air mechanical to electrical control adapters on the stock Olds dash controls, or just mechanical controls? Any additional details are very much appreciated. Thank you.

Bro, thanks for the diagram. Do factory A/C cars have a three row pulley on the crank, or waterpump? I was thinking that if I don't want to change the water pump and pulleys to OEM A/C parts, the easiest would be changing the crank pulley to run a third belt just for A/C. My car is non A/C, power steering equipped.
I will need one of your replacement fan shrouds, let me know the current price please, plus shipping. Thanks.

That is what the 3G on the pulleys indicates on the diagrams.

The Vintage Air bracket worked perfect on the right side, inner pulley of their Sanders compressor lined up with the '65 3 groove pulleys on the crank and water pump. You need all the '65 brackets to move the alternator to the left side for an a/c car. I have plenty of extra brackets if you need some. The factory slide controls hook up directly to the Vintage Air control kit by just snipping off some tabs. I don't know how to include photos to this forum, so send me your email address and I'll send you photos of everything, or Glenn tell me how to attach photos.

I can't recall but it may have been the Vintage Air people themselves that told me their 65 Chevelle unit would work on our cars.
