I'm getting ready to paint my dash. I searched for Eastwoods argent silver and Plasti-kote steel wheel paints per Bro's site. Both are backordered or just unavailable. The Rustoleum metalic silver 7271 is available. Dupli-color, VHT and rustoleum have silver/steel wheel paint but I don't know how they compare. Has anyone used anything else that's closer to the argent silver? Would this be the same paint used on the tail panel? thanks

I ran into the same problem you have...ended up using the Rustoleum metallic silver...it is ok but as stated on this site it is a bit shiny...I have the dash squirreled away someplace in the completed parts part of my shelves...I can maybe post a picture if you like assuming I can find it...my car will be more of a resto mod so I am not as concerned about it being spot on color wise...

This is not hard folks. All you need is an auto paint mixer that has the paint mixing info for older cars. Most supppliers to the body shops have that info and they sell to the general public as well. You can also try a body shop that mixes their own paint.
The 65 assembly manual stipulates Rinshed-Mason Argent Silver for the cover plates used on the dash if there is no heater or radio. That should be the same color. The R-M code is E28Z005 Code 301. With that a mixer can make a pint (for use with an air brush) or a small aeresol can. $20-$25 should do it.

As a follow-up to my original post, I used VHT Ford Argent Silver Wheel paint for the dash and grille. Then Rust-oleum Silver Textured Metallic for the tail panel. I don't know if they are an exact match to the original colors but they are close and I think they look good.
