Hey BRO, I see you are on line. How's life under Covid in your part of the world. Almost all of the car show promoters have cancelled their programs here in Florida, other than some small Cars and Coffee things, life for this car nut has become pretty boring.

Your not alone...don't know about BRO but everything out here on the left side has been canceled...local restaurant cruise nights and such...before all this hit you could be at a cruise somewhere in town or near by almost every night or day of the week...we normally have a couple of big shows in May that were canceled or at least postponed...Show and Go is normally a 1200 plus car show, Chilly Cook Off car show is smaller, 2-300 cars...both local...lots of other church or school associated and a few car club shows all shutdown...only thing doing locally is an informal get together on Saturday mornings where a few of us, 60 to 70 cars get together to chew the fat and swap stories...some local stuff trying to reopen but with this new surge it is making it tough...like you getting bored to tears...keep telling myself that it gives me more time to work on the cars but that only goes so far...WHEN IS IT ALL GOING TO END!!!!!!!!

I finally dusted it off and went to a local cruise...... Sorry I did.....Got in my car and a dark spot over head caught my eye... a G&@ D*#m% FN mouse chewed a hole in my headliner. Now I always fill my car with 2 boxes of dryer sheets (from engine to trunk as a safety precaution), sticky traps and regular mouse traps under the the car. I've never had a problem, just do it as a precaution. Well screw that. I wouldn't have minded a seat or carpet, but a headliner is a royal pain in the A$$. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANYTHING THAT KEEP THE VARMITS AWAY? I've never liked the smell of moth balls and besides I kept getting my nose stuck between their legs. A lot of people use them, but that smell doesn't go away very quickly. Back on topic....all of our major cruises have been cancelled too, so it looks like i'll be hitting the small spontaneous cruises that are popping up. Try to make the best of it and have a great Summer.

Bummer on the headliner! One of the perks of living in hot climates: The little bastards get trapped in hot cars and bake to death. They only stink for a few weeks till they mummify, but you'll certainly know where to look for them. The only tip I can give you is to never eat in the car, and scrupulously clean the interior surfaces you regularly touch before storing the car. From years in body shop business, I think they only eat stuff we touch and leave residue on. Don't ever wire a car after a big, juicy A & W cheeseburger. They'll find those wires by midnight!
We're coming into slow season, when the Snowbirds and their cars head north for the summer. From now till September, it would normally be slow, but not dead. Covid made it dead this year. Normally, when temp is 94, and the humidity index brings it up to 104 in the sun, four hours at a car show can be a tad unpleasant. Good time to update the cars if you can stand the heat in the garage.
However, I would rather do a one hour road trip in the 442, no air, windows down, than any of my other cars. My guess is you would too.

Try to make the best of it and have a great Summer. A few years ago I was lucky enough to buy 4 cases of the good old D-Con from Amazon while it was being outlawed across the country. Within a year or so the price went up to almost $700 before the supply ran out. I've never had a rodent problem and we have pack rats and 3 species of mice running around. But without the good old D-Con you are screwed. Seems that everything that works is illegal thanks to the tree huggers. I only have 1/2 case left. To change the subject we had our annual Father's Day car show anyway, the Governor's office called to say it must be cancelled, so they told them it was only a cruise and they said ok. Then we had the all day car show anyway with over 200 cars and the State Police never showed up.

Careful now, you could be severely punished for exercising your Constitutional right to Free Assembly! Especially when you employ dangerous, smog belching historical icons that offend the New World Order, Tesla and Prius crowd in your scheme. Hope you do it again, soon.

I have mine at my too be retirement home in the middle of the state, (Middle Michigan) don't see it much but it's safe and life there is still pretty much normal, car shows have been cancelled but I'd rather drive it than sit next to it, my only problem is the bugs. I actually had to wash my car for the first time in a long time, getting off them bug guts can be worse that getting off overspray.

Hope it never, ever comes to this, But if anarchy survives Covid, you can do a lot more damage to an anarchist throwing rocks and bottles, by using a 3500 lbs. missile than you can with a 158 grain bullet. It is wise to avoid conflict, but if I am attacked in my car, I will apply 442 justice with a heavy right foot.

Honestly like it or not I think if I was out in my 65 and ran into issues with butt heads I'd tuck my tail and run, I just like my car too much to run some STUPID SOB over, now if I was out in the F250 and that happened >>maybe. You have to up the anti and get the big equipment out, like a 450 bushmaster barrel mounted on a AR frame and lots of clips.

We had planned on long hauling the Power Tour this year but pulled the plug a few weeks again when they were looking to replace the Norwalk stop. So I guess we’ll just be driving around our enjoying the car now that it’s running again after 5 years.

This America, land of the free, for now. Think about the recent assaults on our freedom to simply enjoy our hobby, which really threatens no one. First of course was smog tests, on collector cars that might do a couple thousand miles a year. Then goverment rules made by un-elected bureaucrats in DC who don't own cars and ride the subway, that have restricted our ability to buy the proper fuel for our cars. Add bureaucrats at the state level, in some states restricting antique cars to weekend and parade use only, and the list goes on. Now, because of a virus that is rampant in some major cities, those of us who live in rural America are blocked from having free assembly at car shows, and cruise nights even if there are no Covid deaths in town. Let's not forget those who want to make it mandatory to get an untrusted vaccine, and a health card which you will be required to show at roadblocks, during Warrentless Searches prohibited under the Constitution, to drive to the neighboring town to visit your buddies And if you are unlucky enough to be attacked by carjackers who want to steal your pride and joy, you had better hope they are not part of a protected class against whom you cannot defend yourself when the police are not permitted to respond. I don't know about you all, but I am not looking forward to the future.
Lets not forget

Here on Long Island there are many cruise nights around to keep busy. I don't see official car shows, but cruise nights/days are common. Went to one today, about 100 cars. About 30 minutes after arriving we see 6 police cars pull in. My first thought was they were going to ask everyone to leave, but they all pulled in, parked their cars, and one even opened his hood as if to show it. As the crowd gathered around he proceeds to tell everyone about the police car, being sure to finish with the fact that he didn't build it. Pretty funny stuff.
He did say someone had called to complain not everyone was wearing mask, but he had no interest in stopping what looked like a lot of families enjoying their cars and the outdoors. They proceeded to hand out police pamphlets to some kids and check out the cars. All in all a great scene to see, with lists of people thanking them for what they do. Lots of young people as well, so perhaps the younger generation wants no part of the nonsense we see on TV from the "my feeling our hurt" millennial's.
And be sure to vote against all politicians who placate the fascist mob.

You must be in Suffolk county. We are having some share of local cruises here in Central Florida. Commercial promoted shows have all been cancelled. Mostly mature, very Conservative crowds. No harassment from the thought police, or the real police who a really good people around here. My uneducated assessment of the situation is that man bun Nancies don't drive muscle cars, can't operate a stick shift, or keep 50 year old technology alive. Unfortunately, I have had many guys tell me they are afraid to put Trump stickers on their cars for fear of vandalism by radicals. I am not afraid of that. Vandalizing a muscle car around here could be considered a Capital Crime. People are parking a little farther apart, and lawn chairs may be spaced out a little, and you see a few masks, but that's it. We are normally pretty dead here in the Summer months because of rainy season and oppressive heat. We'll see what the fall brings.

BRO, sorry to hear about your trouble with mice. Something like that almost takes the fun out of having an old cruiser. I've had good luck storing my car for the last 10 years without incident but maybe it's pure luck. I agree with you about using moth balls so I only use them by putting 3 or 4 around each tire on the cement floor. In the interior ( all 4 footwells ), trunk and engine bay I place tinfoil trays of sliced up Irish Spring soap. When I get the car out of winter storage I then collect all of the bar soap shavings, put them in a large baggie and they're ready to be used for the next winter. You wouldn't believe how fresh and clean the car smells each spring! LOL

Bro, I've used a product called "Fresh Cab" with good success. It has kind of an organic smell that isn't too bad. I buy it at Tractor Supply or on-line.
