My speedometer currently reads 10 mph faster than I am actually traveling (when it reads 60, I am actually doing 50). The car has a Turbo 400 transmission with 355 rear, and P215/70R14 wheels.
How do I get the speedometer to read correctly?

Need to change the speedo gear on the end of the cable going into the transmission, don't remember now if you have to change the gear in the trans or not. Might just have to that also.

I believe you only need to change the plastic gear that goes into the end of the cable at the transmission. I haven't done this for a long time but I believe they are color coded as to which one you may need. Might want to google TH400 or TH350 speedo gear replacement.

I haven't done this for a long time but I believe they are color coded as to which one you may need. Might want to google TH400 or TH350 speedo gear replacement. I just looked this up and now I can't find it. There is a site out there because I've been there, I'm still looking for it but can't find it in my favorites. Depending on the trans and rear gear there is a plastic gear set that goes together. A ring gear that goes around the trans output shaft and a speedo gear (spindle gear) that goes into the trans behind the speedo adapter. For example, you have an Orange speedo gear that mates with a white output shaft gear for a 4:10 rear. One of the gears, or the whole set, is wrong in the trans for your rear. If I find the website I will forward it, but I'm sure you can get it in a search because I did originally. I think I searched for "speedometer gears for transmissions" or something like that when I did my search. It wasn't on the first couple of links, I had to look around before I found it, but it's there.
