Thinking of going with a tri power set up,no special reason other than the fact that I'm bored, my stock 400 runs great I'm posting this for in put ,meaning will I be opening up a bunch of problems, like always needing adjustments or special parts or does a tri power run fine like my 4 barrel any in put would be a help thanks

I think everyone tries to over think the TRI-Carb set up. You only adjust the center (2 barrel) carb. How hard is that? The end 2 are strictly dumpers and have no adjustment screws. The bell crank & throttle linkage are the hardest things to find. It is different from the 4 barrel bellcrank & linkage.

Jim, I went down this road a year ago. Searched for every Tri-Carb out there that was for sale. I really think it would make a 65 something special. However, you will need to put about five grand aside for the project. I couldn't find a complete set up for less than about $4,000.00 on the internet, bare manifolds for about $1,500.00, a couple of junkers with broken flanges and ground off markings for a buck or two less. When they come up on ebay, move fast, they vaporize faster than a vampire in the mid-day sun. Carbs, bases and parts are available on the aftermarket, I found linkage too, but everything was 24K gold. I never thought about the bell crank because I didn't know it was different. I gave up because my car is an average car that wouldn't support the investment. I would bet BRO has one hidden somewhere, or knows who has one that's not for sale. Maybe you can make nice and pry one out of him?

May I suggest a ritual peace offering in the form of diamonds or pearls? I was "encouraged" to buy a Sprinter RV to make peace after my last 442 purchase. Good luck.

Rather than a tri-power setup have you ever considered going with dual quads? This would give you two extra barrels and it might cost you less in the long run.

Let me suggest that if you do plan to run dual quads, avoid the goofy Offy intakes. They are flat single plane open plenums, or worse, the really oddball 180 with the vertical divider. Search for a used Edelbrock dual plane dual quad. These run great on the street with a pair of 500 cfm AFBs (or E-brock carbs). Use a progressive linkage. Yes, this will cost significantly less than a factory tripower.

I have two complete tri-carb set ups, bell cranks pieces to convert your existing ones are available from Mike Richards in Alabama. I only have $4,100 invested in both set ups, only thing left to do is rebuild three carbs. I was lucky enough to find them locally in NM from private parties. My friend in Arizona has the tri-carb set up on his '65 and it runs great.

I see the parts place sells a tri carb manifold, does any know anything about them, would it be worth getting one of those at $750 and then building one from there,or are carbs and lincage hard to come by or will most any gm carb set up fit
