Does anybody have an idea what this code means??? The car is correct in all aspects like frame, distributor, head castings, carb number, all parts original, no repros… but the number on the head does not appear in any of the guide lines I could find? Thanks for your thoughts about it Sascha Attachments:

Perhaps the marks from a machine shop that did a valve job? Is there a code on the other head? Often when the heads are off for a valve job, they get swapped side-for-side.

Your head identifying number should be on the passengers side head, at the front of the engine. If it has been swapped to the other side the number will now be on the back of the drivers side It should start with a V0 and as I understand be no larger than 25,003 This is a code from a 66 Starfire conv. engine that I bought for parts. By the way it did not have the big valves, I had to install new ones. I have seen any number of poorly stamped N (s)being passed off as V(s)look very closely at the down angles of the impression, see, IMO, a scam below; I've also seen N(s) that had been knowingly altered.

A give away on that last picture is the number itself 079711, that's way bigger than 025003, additional proof, again IMO

Thank you folks, found the number on the back side of the driver side head So now you know that 1) the heads are from a 442 and 2) they've been off at some point.
