wow am pulling my hair out. I have a 75 olds 350 that Ive put in my 65 cutlass, its rebuilt with mostly factory parts in the block itself. no boring , the cam is a lunuti vodoo 384/ 499 lift. heads are #8 with mondello springs and retainers, 20 thousands milled 4angle valve job and the stems are all the same height. iam running stock rockers, am running point style dist w/ perdex, eldelbrock performer rpm intake w/eldo 600 cfm carb, hooker super comp headers . timing were it runs good is at about 8 degrees with the dist vacum line off the carb and the carb blocked off, my issue is it starts very good cold, but hot it turns over rapidly but for a very long time about 1 min maybe longerand dont give it gas or you have a fire to handle, just turn it over till it starts. then give it gas to clear it out and some times it stalls what gives please?

Sounds like a carb probelm to me, not timing. Sounds like a fuel problem that would cause those symptoms. A sticking float, a choke that is sticking or staying on. Maybe even a fuel pump problem or vapor lock issue.

well before starting I removed the air cleaner and with a lite checked the primaries, dry, set the choke and the jets sprayed and started the engine let it run for 35 minutes, shut it off and looked again no dripping no nothing. so am thinking not the carb.or I dont know what else to ck. if I restart right away starts fine and I have a transparent fuel filter and it stays full. I have the timing set at 10 degrees before and the engine runs very good, am now really at lost on the problem,

Heat soak for a carb, say my Rochester on my post is 15 min to a half hour. If I shut the garage after a cruise it stinks the place up. Take it out and get it hot and let it set. If you smell gas it's probably the problem.

Thats what happens when you can get new after market floats for the carb's your rebuilding. Regretfully they don't make new 4GC floats. The tripower carbs have new floats readily available.
