I have Hooker Super Comp headers, they were very tight. I also have experience with sealing the headers to the head that always seems to leak. I have used two top grade header gaskets with high temp permatex and don't tighten the center bolt too much.

I use the Hooker Super Competition Headers as well. They are a tight fit. On the Passenger side there is a indentation in one tube from the Upper Control Arm.

I had posted a similar comment on a different thread in this forum about my headers. I have Super Comps as well, and added later, Global West Tubular Upper Control Arms. With that edition, the Headers now have plenty of clearance. If I had added the Control Arms first, there would have been No re-work required to the headers, in order to make them clear.... There a pic on my website of this... you can see the work done that was done to the header prior to the installation of the Tubular A Arm. www.tedstevens.us/My1965F-85-2drDeluxeSportsCoupe-pg3.htmlHope that's helpful information... Ted

Nice pictures Ted, but really, valve cover screws loosening in 45 miles. I don't think sooooo, must have been because of improper torque on installation. I know, you let your wife put those on.

BTW I have a set of Kooks headers waiting to go on, I plan on test fitting them as soon as I get my frame back, which will be on the next solar eclipse.

Well, I just got my new Valve Covers from Rocket Racing a week or two back... They'll have different fasteners to hold them down. I didn't really have any issues with leaking anyway; that's why they make LocTight... ted

Ted What I have done, as well as others is to replace the pressed in bolts on the A Arms so the head of the bolt faces the headers and the threads face outward. This gives more clearance and there is no need to dimple the headers. I used grade 8 bolts.
