This wont apply in every case but I was shocked to find the following as I doubt many of us take the time:
Over the holidays I decided to purchase the interior items I need to finish my 2nd car which should be ready very soon. Like many I was drawn to the interior kits at OPGI as they boast such a large discount. One of the problems I've always had is I don't always need everything but figure what the heck if I have a couple extra pieces but can save a few hundred bucks, worth it. Most of what is in the stage IV kit is what I was looking for so was going to get the entire kit. However, between XMAS and New Years they had a sale including free shipping and further discounts. Ironically the interior kits were not available for further discount as they claim they are already at their lowest point. I decided to go through the work and list out each piece that actually applies to our cars in the advertised kit (it gets confusing otherwise with the 66-67 only stuff). I combined small packages where it made obvious sense (such as the carpet kit which includes sound deadening, insulated carpet and sill plates) and individual pieces as required to total very closely to what they offer in the Stage IV kit. It's amazing what I found:
Not only was the NON-KIT price less, the discounts offered and applied to the unbundled parts drove the difference even higher. Additionally when I removed the things I really didn't need it made a few hundred dollars of difference. Bottom line I got nearly everything in the package, plus the exterior seals, a new windshield and several additional items for approximately what it would have cost for the stage IV package alone. To be sure I ran it again today just on the kit. Here's what I came up with:
OPGI Stage IV Kit price for 1965 Cutlass Holiday Coupe has an advertised price of $2838.05 which they claim is a discount of 314.00 off individual
Actual price you'd pay today by ordering individual parts and small packages as described above by not ordering the kit is 2638.59. A 200.00 difference high level and often additional discounts apply to some of the things you order driving the difference higher.
Any event, do your own research but I found this to be consistent twice and applying additional savings offered can drive a much higher savings as there always seem to be other discounts. Also when you exclude the things you really didn't need it can become a 400-500 savings quickly.
Thought I'd share, do your own research. It's worth it.
