After your done sandblasting, I know you got to blow out all sand before priming/painting. How long can a frame sit before surface rust starts to set in? I know it depends on where you live and all, but if in doors it seems like you have a week or two? Also, whats a good base to put down before your Chassis black?

Bubba Jeffs frame has been in bare metal for three years. he is the guy to ask, he might even be doing an experiment to see how long you can leave one not painted.
All kidding aside, I painted mine probably three weeks after blasting it.

Hell, they last for ever without any rust I would worry about.

As long as there isn't any humiditiy, it won't rust.

i got my blasted in the middle of winter here in pa, and so going from inside to the trailer (getting a road salt bath) to back inside it started sweating and actually started to rust by the time i got it home. i cleaned it up good with hot soapy water, cranked up the wood stove, and blew it dry. then i apoxy primered it that night. then i could work on a particular spot at a time without worrying about the rest rusting. and one piece at a time i cut and welded and straighted stuff, and then touched it up as i went.

If it were mine Id sand the whole thing down with 80 grit, fill in the pits with body filler, shoot it with epoxy primer, then if it looks good enough shoot it with chassis black.

No, not me either, but, I did sand blast it and then I blew it, wiped it down with cleaner "lacquer thinner, tacked it and shot it with metal etch primer. Now all I have to do is scuff it this weekend, blow, tack again, and shot with the chassis black. Thanks for the advice and the many ways to do it. Kind of like sex. ?
