I recently moved to York PA and I guess I'll have to get my vechiles inspected here if I get them registered here. What's the deal with the inspections in PA? My 65 is injected, has headers, 2.5" xpipe exhaust, shinny throttle body. From what I've read I don't have to pass emissions but am subject to an underhood inspection I think.
I think I can pass all of the safety type inspections except my horn doesn't work as I can't find a relay for it. Also, my backup lights don't function as the reverse switch on the muncie was long gone when I bought it.
BR[] you live in PA right, how do you handle your vehicles?
thanks eric

Its just the basics, nothing special, but the horn and backup lights have to work. just hook the backup lites to a toggle switch under the dash. As far as the under hood, I dont think there will be any problem. You can also license them as street rods and the inspections are easier, but I don't think that will be an issue. Go to a cruise or two and ask around, you'll most likely find a good inspection station that will work with you.

In PA, from what I understand dealing with my old man’s 53 Chevy, the red tape says a "street rod" is pre-1948. At any rate, like BRO said, the basics have to work. You can put a regular plate on it, or you can go for the classic or antique plate. You have to send in photos to Harrisburg and they determine if you are “worthy” of the plate. They have been re-vamping the laws lately, so I am not 100% on how that works anymore. Used to be with classic plate, yearly inspections, but exempt from smog or engine regulation crap (you can’t put a motor that didn’t come from the factory in the vehicle). Antique was a one time inspection but there were limitations for driving after dark and whatnot. Only so many miles per year as well… I think classic might be a one time inspection now as well? I am going for the classic plate for my 65. I believe once you have it, you are grandfathered in…

Do you have any Back Up Light Delete Covers? I would think that if the vehicle wasn't equipped with them, your vehicle would be exempted. OPGI does sell remanufactured Covers...
Good Luck!
