I can't seem to find the post about the upper turn signal switch. I remember it being said there are 2 possible switchs that could have been used. One with the bearing and one with the bearing as a seperate part. I see 2 possible parts available thru Year One and Fuscisk. My steering shaft appears to be loose like the bearing has failed. I am not sure which I have but assuming I have the one with a seperate bearing is there a supplier for that bearing. Also I have a column shift I was wandering if the switch can be replaced without total disassembly of the column? Thanks in advance. Rocky

To replace the switch just pull the wheel

Out of the five columns I have 4 of them have the switch with the barrings in them and the lower barrings on all the shafts are shot. So if your gonna replace the top one you might want to look at the bottom one.

It appears I have the switch with the bearing. So the wiring and connector will just pass thru the shifter housing without removing it? Basically remove wheel, drop column down from dash and feed the wiring thru? Or do I have to brake it down further?

Nope you will have to brake it down. And the cheapest price I found for that switch is supercars unlimited.

Don`t be pulling your column apart, remove the wires from the curved connector, attach a piece of tracer string to the wires, pull them up thru the tube ( ya gotta wiggle em around a little, pull um up and down, but they`ll clear.) Then using the tracer wire pull em back down, I`ve done this many times on GM cars, last one, my 65. I`ll scan the procedure from my manual, I know it`s in there somewhere, give me a little time I`ll find it

Just mark the plastic connector and make a schematic of how you pulled out the wires. It's really not that hard and Postcar gave you good info.

Thanks guys but it turns out that it is very easy to achieve at least the one I have seems to be. The wire is actually routed outside the steering tube under a strip of metal that slides over it and clips on the bottom with a spring clip. Once you remove the 3 screws holding the signal switch every thing else just rotates and slides right off shifter housing and all allowing the switch to be removed in tact. A real nice surprise.

I thought maybe the column shift column was quite a bit different than my floor shifter column (disassembles as you described), so I decided I didn't have any helpful comments. Sorry.

Mike, it was posted in jest. We have talked before and we have went back and forth here before. We all have said things to Bro, Jeff and others that would make other people say wtf? I guess it could have been said differently. My fault. I guess my point was that 262 people are on this friggin board and not a damn one spoke up and said that there is an access panel under the tube that lets the signal switch basically fall out. I hadnt read this thread (I dont read them all) and when I did I was a little miffed that it had been up for a few and no one responded besides you.

To me that means he knows what he needs to do next or he would have asked more questions. If he would asked more questions I would have tried to answer them to the best of my limited knowledge. Postcar have a smoke and drink some coffee live for another day. ;D Ok Ramz Now I'm done joking around with you I understand what you mean you would like the other 200 and some to speak up. And I agree it would be nice to hear from them.

I believe all F85s have the same column tube, with the access panel.

You said what I meant Shane. I think they all have a removable metal strip so you can get the switch out.
