I would like to buy an original '65 400 motor as complete as possible with a 4 speed crank. I'm probably dreaming, but would like to get one complete from carb to exhaust manifolds to flywheel. If anyone has one for sale, please let me know. Would of course also consider mostly complete motors, as I know these are getting pretty rare. Would prefer within 500 miles of Minneapolis.

Of course you mean a spare 65 400 that someone would be willing to sell. About the only one that fits that bill around here would be BRO! ;D I have just what you are looking for, including the 65 M20 as well, but I just can't part with it right now. The economy is bad, but it aint that bad yet! I don't know what something like that would be worth now anyway. I've had this one for awhile waiting for the right 4-door or Vista Cruiser to come along.

Oh Mikey, That was just about the biggest tease>>and yes he is correct about Bro, but getting parts from Bro is like pulling teeth unless it is something he'll never use. An engine, he would probably sell you his son to pull your car around before he sold you an engine, but you never know unless you ask.

I have only one 65 400 and four 442's that need a back-up. You do the math! Although I do have an original 65 425 that may go......(The first big money takes it)....... It actually came in a 65 442, but that's a fairytale for another day.

This 1965 442 motor was going into my 1965 Cutlass convert but plans have changed. As stated this is an original 442 motor rebuilt and with quality parts. I have the correct 65 442 air cleaner, exhaust manifolds, intake, carb, distributor, water pump. I have pictures. My cell phone is 203-273-4302 and work 203-531-8737. I bought the complete engine from a guy turning his 1965 442 into a resto mod with a 455. One last thing the crank was out of a 1965 fullsize and my Cutlass is an automatic so the crank will need an adaptor or drilled by a machine shop. Thanks for looking.

Mike, I can appreciate you wanting potential buyers to call you to discuss price and selling the engine to save time. But for us 65 442 guys, it would help greatly to know what you are asking for this engine? These engines don't come available much these days and knowing what you think a fair price is for an engine would help us, that's what this forum is all about. I wouldn't think posting your asking price wouldn’t hurt the sale any, would you mind sharing? Thanks,
