anyone running a torker or performer (same height) on a 400 or 455 in their 65? what carb and air cleaner combo are you running. i will be going to a q-jet when i get my motor back together, but before with the 750 holley 3310 and perfromer i had about a 1/2" to my hood. the q-jet is a little shorter than the holley. i am looking into this filter assembly with the k&n extreme lid so it can still breathe with the 1-1/4"drop base... store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=KNN%2D66%2D3040&N=700think this combo will work? the more i look at the cowl hoods the more i dont really like them. i want my car to look stock other than the stance and the skinnies on the front.

I had a torker or what was there first generation manifold on my first 65 in the early eighties with a Holley, hood clearance was a problem. I think that may be your only possibility other than doing the new style type air cleaner with a filter tucked up by the washer bottle refill. The low profile filters are all right but it seems like I kept running into linkage issues (throttle linkage hitting the bottom of the air cleaner)

In my current car, but with the previous motor, I was running a Torker Intake with a Demon Carb set up. I used a 4 inch drop air cleaner housing in order to clear the stock hood. I used the 4 inch K&N filter with the Extreme top side filter kit too. It was enough room for about 1/2 inch of clearance under the hood with no modifications. I think I have a few photo in the "restoration" section of this setup on my web site.

Oh, one more thing, the Hood Spear Mounting tab, directly over the air cleaner protruded deep enough to leave a dent in the top of the filter about 1/8 inch deep.

DUUHHH! Now I know who you are! (DUHHHH again!) Yup- got it yesterday- thought I sent you an email. Of course haven't had time to check it out- probably not for about 3-4 weeks. Going to change the setup tho'. Just got an original body from another member I'm going to use for meets. Thanks again! Still thinking about those valve covers...... Ralph
