my t-shifter works well but the two red buttons do not depress. it is not broken, to the best of my knowledge. does this need to be rebuild or is it trashed ?

Hard to say till you take the handle off...At lot of people break them or have broken them taking the handle off.. once you get the allen screws out dont twist it pull it straight up...take a look at some pictures of one disassembled from a manual or on BRO's site so you know whats coming. Hopefully the two tabs are intact on the lever. Hope this helps

I'm looking into maching a screw in section to replace the two ears. Basically drill the existing shaft hole and thread for new top section. Seems pretty simple to pin the new ears made from good steel. I'll post a picture of the concept when I have time.

my t-shifter works well but the two red buttons do not depress. it is not broken, to the best of my knowledge. does this need to be rebuild or is it trashed ? One of the red buttons, the one that faces the passenger seat, does not depress. Only the button that faces the driver side will move. If your shifter still moves without depressing the button, you've got other problems as well. My guess is that one of the ears is busted off, no surprise there, and it isn't allowing you to depress the button. But the shifter shouldn't then lock in place and would move from gear to gear without the lock feature.

the shifter moves through all gears. you could be in drive and accediently move into reverse. Not a good scene.
