The frame on my project car has serious structural rust. I have a donor frame from a hardtop for the outer rail sections to be replaced. Any thoughts on the inner rail sections? The area of rust is the horizontal sections between the front and rear wheels. I'll post some pictures.

Cut, chop, rebuild, cut, hammer, weld, and then weld some more. Actually isn't quite horizontal, the top plate of the coupe frame will have to bent down and a added plate attaching the top and bottom plate welded in. The angle top to bottom (inner) change from one end to the other. Check picture in my signature, left side shows the various angles(sort of). Looks like fun.

Hmmm, that frame looks like the one on my Cutlass vert, except mine has floors that match the frame. YIKES! It's really amazing how some of these cars just rust like mad.
The old adage is to buy the best body you can, but if it's a real love project, it will take a good bit of time to repair.
I think the best thing to do would be to get a good convertible frame and cut and weld the 442 pieces in, and like Bubbaz said, chop, cut rebuild, weld, chop some more weld some more. It's going to be a big job.
Have you looked into buy a good 442 convertible frame?
