Aren't all Club Coupes by definition a post coupes?
There was a 65 post coupe for sale on eBay (I know some folks are tired of eBay topics) that says their car is a Club Coupe and has production numbers listed that don't make sense to me.
Item #300286625680
The auction ended early as it looks like it sold locally, but I was just curious about the production numbers and info posted. The Club Coupe are the models I know the least about.
Don't know if ranger_f85 is a member here. Probably not or the car would have been listed in the for sale forum.

Club Coupe V8s are VIN 3427s. The car in question is Ted Stevens, and is a F85. The F85 badge is on the lower front fender. It was an original V6 car. But you are right Mike, the club coupes are confusing. Some have no chrome what so ever and the car like Teds is optioned like a Cutlass post. Maybe the V6 is what made it an F85. I doubt you could get a Cutlass with a V6.

But was that club coupe (the one on Ebay) REALLY one of 1087 or were there 1087 club coupe 442s in 65? I almost bought a real club coupe 442 in 2005 from a guy in Cali. It was a 4-speed and it was in pieces. It didn't have a lick of chrome on it either, just the small thin bar going across the tail panel. Anyways, I wouldn't pay what he was asking once I factored in shipping and sending my dad from MI to CA to look at it while I was living in Germany.

We have to clear up one issue that most of you do not understand. ALL 65 "A" BODIES ARE F-85's --- ALL 65 "A" BODIES ARE F-85's --- ALL 65 "A" BODIES ARE F-85's. Ok that's enough of that. So you have the F-85 Standard Coupe, Sport Coupe and the F-85 Cutlass' available in the Sport Coupe, Holiday Coupe and the Convertible.

Aren't all Club Coupes by definition a post coupes? I vote for a yes on your Question/statement, it's just that Oldsmobile didn't call them that. I call mine a post, Sports Coupe, never a Club Coupe, sounds toooooo golfish. I almost could warm up to the hood scoop, car has a nice stance. This car I mean 300286625680 on Ebay.

A sedan is something your grandfather drove, when I get old enough to drive a sedan you'll have grandchildren!

The V6 coupe was referred to as the standard coupe. The Club Coupe was a separate model option, just like the Sports Coupe was a separate model option. But yes, you are correct all “A-bodies” are F-85’s. That still doesn’t get to my original question/statement, as Bubbas pointed out, that all Club Copes are coupes with post doors, to be more accurate.

POST CARS: The Sport Coupe is technically an F-85 Cutlass Sport Coupe. The Club Coupe or Standard are the same car the F-85 Standard Club Coupe. Olds referenced it both ways, but they are both 3427 whereas the Cutlass is 3827.

Teds is a Deluxe F-85 Sports Coupe 3527, not a Club Coupe. Club Coupes were 3327 and 3427 which were called Standard F-85 Club Coupes.

Ah, this one is smart, we shall call him BRObiwan Kenobi.Ok, had to really dig out my dealer info and dust it off. BRO is once again correct, I should just stop trying. This explains it completely, for me at least. It also confirms that all Club Coupes are post cars regardless.

Just saw this thread. Yes, that was my car on ebay, and it had some inacutate details in the listing. (I've figured out all the details on VIN and production data now. My care is NOT a Club Coupe, it is a Sports Coupe, and yes originally a V6 Car. Nothing Special.

Hey BigMike, If you call a car with a steel post between the windows a post car (2 or 4 door), then yes all club coupes were post coupes. Oldsmobile offered several different variations of trim and options with the "coupe" cars, but all were cars with pillars between the glass. Four doors with a post were usually called "sedans". Most cars witout the pillar were referred to as "hardtops".
But this could really open the floodgates.....
There were and lot of car manufacturers, designers, and marketing geniuses and they all had their own ideas. They had "hardtop coupes" and "pillared coupes" and "hardtop sedans" and "pillared sedans" and on and on and on....

Club Coupes were offered from Oldsmobile for a reason. And if you are lucky to be a owner of one, and of 1087. Maybe that's why they what to say they have a Club Coupe ?
