Has anyone taken seat belts/buckles apart to refurbish them? I have some that are bound up and not sure if the buckles actually come apart in some fashion. I figure they must but don't want to screw them up worse than they are already. Also, can you bleach the belts to get stains and crud off them? Thanks for any help.

Hey Gary, check out Br[]'s site, he's got some good info on dismantling seat belts.

I checked out BRO's site and that helped with the retractors but I was wondering about the buckle ends, also. Has anyone had any luck trying to take a buckle apart to get at the knurled shaft inside that holds the belt-it always seems to get rusted up and locked instead of be able to move around with the belt. Thanks again.

The cover should pop off with some gentle prying. You should be able to see where the tabs are and get a small screwdriver under them. Do one side and it should slip right off.
