I used PPG DP90LF to prime the floor pans and firewall. This is off his site.

I looked on RAMZ page and cannot find the answer. When I bought a new 442 in 1965 it was black so the firewall was black also. Now I bought this vert and its bugundy mist and the PO painted the fire wall flat black. I can see the bugundy mist coming through some of the black and I was wondering if anyone knew what color the fire wall should be. Thanks. Gary

The reason you see some of the Burgandy coming through is because, at the factory, they painted the car body first. Then they came back through and shot the flat or semi gloss. The black can be obtained at any automotive store that carries semi gloss or satin black. I once used Krylon satin for the firewall and suspension parts. If you go to Ramz page, you just click on his before and after shot of his 65. It will take you to a bunch of his stages of restoration. I think it's under floor pan resto. Just click on the icon.

Dont go by what I used, it was too shiny. I am redoing it when I pull my engine out in a few months. From this pic you can see the difference between the flatter firewall and the shiny heater box. Ive also seen some with real thin paint at the top.

What is wrong with your motor? It has a power issue, as in it doesn't have any.

WOW, you guys are brutal to poor ole RAMZ Don't worry he gets his diggs in, anyways I've been offering my everything (almost) for over a year to work on that thing and he just keeps driving it so no pity here. We could have been burning rubber and tearing shit up by now. (he's just doing it because he's using it as an excure to repaint his firewall)

I know all about that "lack" of power issue. Everybody thinks I need my head examined because I took a PERFECTLY good (emphasis on good) running and completely detailed W31 350 Ram-Air engine and 4-speed ( in the same condition) out of my car 'cause it wasn't fast enough. Now, about $7000.00 later, my engine bay is STILL empty but I sure do have some BAD-ASS stuff. I am hoping to run some high 11's or real close with a "class legal" 350 4-speed 4:33 rear combo. And the firewall should be a satin or egg-shell black with the heater is a little more glossy. BTW the 350 is in my '69 W31.

I've done that before but Ramz car has got a cam issue I believe, it couldn't beat a Pinto let alone a pinto bean. Big Ramz where are you, come out and play, dinner's over.

Would the Cam issue be because, after the rebuild it sat for 3 years? And aren't you supposed to loosen up the rocker bolts until the Fire up?

Rockers were not on until break in. We think the cam is a 39 degree.
