As a part of my rebuild, I'm converting from an external to an internal regulated 3-wire alternator.
Whats the best way to wire this for the cleanest final installation? I had purchased a conversion kit, but once it arrived I found that it merely uses two conversion pigtails.... one to jumper the wires that connect to the old external regulator, and the second to plug into the old alternators pigtail so it will plug into the new alternator.
This is probably great if someone is trying to do a quick change-over, or for someone looking to leave the factory harness intact.
I'm not looking to do either... I want a clean installation.

Now that you know what wires you need and don't need make your own harness up. Shouldn't be a big deal>>>> I wouldn't think anyways.

M & H will sell you an engine harness set up for the internal regulator if you ask them and add HEI also if required...thats how I did mine..clean...no extra wires
