I saw this in the parts listing section of the 442 build...
McNichols Polishing & Anodizing Inc.
All the aluminum bright work on the car is anodized. Its a coating that gives the otherwise flimsy aluminum strenght. The bad thing is you cant polish aluminum after its been anodized. I took my headlight rings and had them stripped, poished, and recoated. They look like new but the process doesnt fix any pitting. So the better the pieces the nicer the result.
So is the wheel opening mouldings, and convertible well trim anodized aluminum? I thought is was stainless. We're planning on having the trim polished... but now I'm concerned after reading this.

Don't know about the convertible piece but the wheel well trim is stainless. I think it's the only part. I had a guy in Milwaukee Wisconsin do a car-set and they look brand new. No waves, dings or dents. Very impressed with his work. Cost was $200.00 and he supplied the trim too.

Well... Oldsproject had them done... which I assume means polished, and says they turned out great. But RamZ says they're anodized aluminum, and I sounds like they can't be polished.
Seems like two conflicting opinions.

Once you get the anodize off you can polish them like crazy. Ive heard Eazy-Off oven cleaner will take it off.

THEY ARE FRIGGIN STAINLESSI think Br[]'s on the fence with this one I have at least 30 sets (don't ask...... they're all dented) and NONE of them are aluminum. Could be like the drip rails, where some cheaper models are aluminum, but I have never seen any car with them. "ON THE FENCE" Don't think so..................
