I've got power steering fluid coming out of my pump filler cap. Its coming out the vent hole on the top. Where can I find the gaskets to fix this? Maybe I should just get a new cap? What do the experts think? ? Thanks for the help. Gary

What do the experts think?? Thanks for the help. Gary: That vent hole is there for a purpose and should not be covered with a gasket, the system needs to breathe. There could be a couple things causing a problem. The most simple is that the pump is too full. You should always check and fill the system with a cold engine/pump. The fluid in the system expands when hot. Just get an old turkey baster and remove the fluid and start over when cold. The other thing that could cause this is a bad seal in the gearbox, or a bad gearbox, or a bad pump that would cause the problem. You might want to get someone to help you to turn the steering wheel lock to lock while observing the pump to see if the fluid comes out in either direction or just one. But make sure that you've already checked the fluid with the system cold and make sure the fluid level is correct before starting this procedure. If the system is already too full, it will push out fluid and you won't be able to tell if there is a problem with the gearbox. If the fluid comes out in both direction it could be a bad pump bypassing and building up pressure and blowing out fluid. I’m trying to remember if you can disconnect the hose and connect a longer section of hose to loop the two lines together and see if the pump is pushing the fluid out to determine if it is the box or pump.
