Hell, that doesn't look too bad, I'd say that's a good find. You sure it has a 66 frame under it, that boggles my mind. Does that mean it has a 66 core support on it also, I thing the front parts of the frame is different for the different radiators the 66 had.

I've seen a lot worse for sure. After a little TLC, will look like new! Good luck and keep us posted.

There is something about finding a "diamond in the rough" that is totally exciting to me. This convert is one such diamond- it shows its age and scars, which always suggests (to me) it is REAL! I like seeing a real, rare project car better than a finished one. It reminds me of treasure hunting the back streets of Salt Lake City as a young boy, with dad looking for these very cars.

Usually verts are loaded out, its weird to see one with so few options. I wonder why some cars got the chrome speaker grill and others like yours did not. Seems odd that that would be an option. But I guess it must have been.
Looks like a project for sure but at least the engine is there. Have fun with it and keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I'm pretty excited about it and know all that it needs. I actually like the fact that it has no options, though I wish it were a 4-spd., and dig the original color-Forest Mist. I came close to selling it over the summer after losing my shop (divorce...) and losing my job (a**holes!) but have done all I can to hold on to it. Hopefully next year I'll be rich (ha ha) and have plenty of disposable income to do it right! Realistically, I hope to be employed and have a least enough to do it over time... I'll keep y'all posted

Is it possible someone already cloned this car, look at the dash emblem.....
Still a nice find, a lot of work to make it nice, but worth it in the end.

Look closer, it never had the chrome speaker grill. Was that an option or what? Seems like that shouldve been standard.

442Chuckie,
I just parted out a 65 Cutlass Verte. All that is left is an AC cowl and the quarters. I have had the car 30 years and was going to restore but changed plans 2 years ago when I purchased a 442 Verte. I believe the frame is salvageable but will need repairs. Car was never hit and the frame is straight.
I am south of you about 100 miles in Oceanside LI. I will post some pictures tomorrow night. Let me know if you want to discuss, maybe this might help you with your project. I need to move the car out in the next two weeks to make room for a Vista Cruiser I just purchased.
Thanks, Bob

Thanks Bob! That would be great. Oceanside is very nice, used to have a customer down there. Looking forward to the pics! Chuck

Does that mean it has a 66 core support on it also, I thing the front parts of the frame is different for the different radiators the 66 had. In '66 they switched to the crossflow radiator so the mount locations are outboard about 2" compared w/ the '65. The guy I had gotten the car from said the frame was off a '66 F-85 4-door. The rad support is just resting on the frame horns...
