I'd have to check the HP ratings and torque for a 1970 motor but it would help. I think an old 455 Toro motor would be better but bigger is better as long as a 70 semi smog motor out performs your 350 motor in torque.

am ordering the w/z manifolds from thorton and was wanting to use the qjet thats on the engine but have it rebuilt, mainly the bushing of the linkage shaft so as to not have a vaccum leak there as they are notoris for.

Dropped a 425 (.30 over) into my 65 with TH350 and 3:08's. Motor was built up modestly including performer intake, C Heads, 750cfm carb, True roller, JM 20-22 cam, magnum roller rockers/lifters, etc, hooker headers and HEI. Just through race gas in and go.... No problems with the TH350 yet. May change out the rear though?

thats a nice combo, should run real good.does it hook up ok? I have hooker super comps on the 350 but well be glad to get them off as to the draging on speed bumps and I evan have a/c springs on the front to keep it up, dont think they will go on a 455 flanges are different.

Need to convert to posi as I just get a whole lot of wheel smoke right now. Kinda nice cruising at 20mph or so and breaking em lose when you hit it. Just sit at the line wasting rubber though. Trying to balance power and gas mileage, but that's pretty much out the door. I have the super comps too and haven't had any dragging issues but don't have speed bumps either? Used the 330 mounts versus big block so maybe that made a differance. Don't know though.

Throw that old boat ancor in the dumpster like I did (1969 455) and put a real powerplant in LSX . Besides Bro said it him self the only real olds motor is a 400.

I have a 68 455 with Super Comp Hooker Headers. They fit a little tight, but do fit. Try running dual 3" exhaust. Make it breath.
