rearend - 90 weight or 80w90 POSI gear lube.
engine - fresh rebuild i take it? pay close attn to detail on first startup and break in. they make break in oil additives for this. when breaking in the race car we always used rotella t diesel oil and gm "eos" oil addative, however i dont think they make eos anymore. there are others out there. do some searching.
as far as break in procedure, start the car and immidiately set the idle to 2000 rpm. very between 2000-2500rpm for 5 minute intervals for 20 minutes to a half an hour. this is very important. do not rev the engine up and do not let it idle at normal speed durring this time. avoid shutting the engine off durring this period also. now that the oil lacks the sulfer and zinc and whatever else due to the epa, it is very easy to wipe out a brand new flat tappet cam durring break in. if you have a roller cam, dont even worry about it.

Just had my 8.2 rebuilt with a augburn limit slip and the driveline shop installed amsoil. It is suppose to be the best money can buy.

Swapped the cam and lifters in my DZ302 last week. I was talking to Phil from Blair's Speed Shop and he said the Comp Cams Engine Break-in Oil Additive was the best stuff to use when breaking in a cam or fresh engine. Use a whole bottle (12oz.) for break in then a half a bottle at each oil change after that. I use regular Delo 400, not the low-emission stuff, but I've also heard the Rotello still has some zinc and goodies your engine wants most in its oil, but the hippies don't want in your oil. For the cam and lifters I used Isky Rev-Lube Moly Sulphide. When breaking in the cam we did similar to what Oldspeed outlines but the cam instructions (Engle) said do NOT go over 2000. So far, so good.
As for the limited slip additive, Phil sold me Kendall Limited Slip Axle Additive Concentrate. Said it's really good. Stuff smells terrible though. I got a bottle of it, now I just need a posi.

i have seen different cam manufacturers recommend anywhere between 2000-3000 rpm. you would probably be fine at 2000. i like to vary it back and forth from 2000-2500. maybe it would be best to contact the cam manufacturer and see for sure...

My Engle cam sheet says 1,600 Rpm if I remember correctly.
