Bought a front and rear disk brake kit from same vendor as discussed in thread below under vendor reviews...have everything mounted on rear axle...plan is to run 15x7 stock steel wheels with poverty caps...I noted in the review below that the member had issues with the caliper hitting the center of the stock 15x7 steel wheels he had purchased from an after market vendor where the outer rim and center are welded together and ended up using spacers...yesterday I mounted a 15x8 stock GM steel wheel, a rally wheel, on my rear axle and had at least a quarter of an inch clearance in the same area, no contact at all...was a wheel my mechanic had laying around....question is how much difference if any is there in the construction of a rally wheel vs a stock steel wheel...obviously in this case the wheel will be an inch narrower...I assume the difference is in the width of the center flat portion of the rim...even so that shouldn't change the relation of the axle flange to the wheel where it is mounted or am i missing something here...could this be a vendor issue?, I will be using a different vendor that I have used in the past....I have a spare tire in my Chevy that is a 15x7 rally that is from the same vendor that I will be using, same lug pattern, was thinking about putting it on my rear axle to see if there is an issue...
sorry this is so long just trying to avoid purchasing wheels that may have issues....any help will be greatly appreciated

The Olds SuperStock II/III wheels have quite a bit less backside clearance than do most wheels. The problem is that Olds used the same center stamping for both 14" and 15" SS II/III wheels. As a result, the 15" versions use an outer rim that has quite a bit more center drop than is normal for a 15" wheel, which is why there is less backside clearance.
