Does anyone have a recommendation for an HEI distributor that looks stock, fits well, and doesn't require any modifications to the air cleaner or anything else? Basically, I would like to upgrade to HEI, but retain the factory look...if that is possible. Thanks.

A Pertronix in the original distributor works great and maintains the correct look look. Not exactly what you wanted, but a good alternative.

MSD "Ready to Run" distributer for Olds. Can use a stock looking cap and use the stock ignition wires. Part 8529. Stock Tach works as well.

Let's be clear. "HEI" is GM's coil-in-cap distributor. It will not clear the stock air cleaner, period.
If you are actually asking about aftermarket electronic distributors, there are a lot of small-cap options. Just be aware that if your fancy aftermarket electronic distributor breaks down somewhere, you aren't going to walk into an auto parts store and find parts for it.

In order to retain the stock look, I decided on the Pertronix Ignitor II (91181LS) lobe sensor electronic ignition conversion, a set of Pertronix Flamethrower plug wires (708105), a Pertronix Flamethrower Coil (45011), Accel (8124) Cap and Rotor, and a set of NGK Iridium IX (XR51X) spark plugs. It ended up being a pretty cost effective way to breathe life back into the ol' girl. She starts right up and purrs better than ever now. Next project is to get the original Rochester 4GC rebuilt.
