Hey guys, thought I'd put up a quick note introducing myself as it seems like a few of you have known each other for some time. First off, I'm pretty new to Oldsmobiles but a pretty quick learner. My first Olds was a mid 70's cutlass supreme broughm that lasted 1-week before someone side swipped it in my driveway, totalled the car with no insurance . They never caught the guy but pretty sure I knew who it was. After that, was multiple GM's until recently when my son and I found a 1965 post Cutlass for $500.00. We decided to do a father son project before he heads off to college (empty nesters starting tomorrow). It was a total restore which we should be completed in a couple months (being painted). We changed our minds about a dozen times so the cost, well let's just say was substantial. Neat thing is we did everything ourselves from a complete motor rebuild on a "67" 425, column to floor shift conversion, apolstery, headliners, etc. a great experiance. The biggest problem I've found though was the lack of industry knowledge of "65's" and companies that list "65" parts that don't work! That is until I found this forum. I've spent alot of time reading the info posted. It's great to find true experts. Now that we're rounding the bend on the Cutlass, I'm looking at the next 65 project. This time, we'll do it right and start with a true 442 and do a frame off with a plan (hopefully). In any event, I'm in Oregon City, Oregon just outside of Portland, originally from the midwest and look forward to learning more. I've been a member at classicoldsmobile since 2007 but glad you guys have this dedicated to 64's and 65's Brian

That's pretty neat Brian, we should each think about doing an introduction, it would help everybody get to know each other. Oregon, lots of 65 parts seem to come from there that are in good condition. Good luck with the completetion of your project and lets get some pictures posted. Jeff

Welcome Brian. I'm a new member also(couple of months) and I live in Redding CA about two hours south of the Oregon border. I have three project 65's that I am dealing with and have learned alot about 65's in the last few months. Good to here from another west coaster. Maybe we can swap info or parts as we go. I'm always looking for parts. Talk to you later, Gary.

Thanks guys, I'll get some pix up soon and yes, lots of good parts and cars out in this country. Good climate for it and no road salt! I just picked up my third car today off e-bay . Pretty excited and it looks to be a good one to go original. I've been talking to the guy for a couple weeks and getting many photo's. It's got correct frame stampings, boxed rear control arms, etc. But has the wrong engine. That's where car #2 comes in as it has correct block, intake, heads, distributor, exhaust manifolds, etc. Between the two, I should have some decent parts. In any event, I'll get pix up on all as I try to figure out how to get the car up from Vegas

Glad to see your so close, I'm actually just outside of Oregon City closer to Redland. I'll get some pix up next week of the three cars (fremont cutlass, fremont 442, lansing 442) I'm working on. Probably make one of the 442's a donor. I've got quite a few extra parts but don't know what I'm going to need just yet so holding off selling anything for now. If you need something though, let me know as I might have it or be able to part with it. Good to hear of someone close by. Got any pix of your car?
