I'm restoring the stock steering wheel and will be using POR 15 two part epoxy. Has anyone used this stuff? after filling cracks and sanding I will prime it and will use yearone's interior spray paint (SVM12 Lt Blue) John

I finished the wheel repair and tried several different materials. I tried JB weld and didn't like it. Then por15 putty and found it difficult to mix properly. Then I went back to bondo red putty 2 and it seems to work good and filled the cracks.

My experience with the red putty is that within a year it shrinks and cracks, I will only use the Eastwood two part epoxy for steering wheels.

I may regret using the bondo red putty if it shrinks. For now though the repairs and painting came out looking really good...not perfect but very good. Tried to attach pic but too big.

Were you aware you could have your wheel completely stripped down to the metal components, and recast in the color of your choice, by Koch's Steering Wheel Restoration in California? I would do it again in a heart beat if I needed to... mine turned out great!
Caveat... if you have the deluxe wheel with the wood grain Koch's isn't an option.

Mongoose,
Thanks for the information. If the wheel repairs do not hold up I may take your advice.
