Well before you make your decision take a look at the frame, all the extra stuff makes no difference in a rebuild if the frame is crap. So far from what I can see the frame is solid.

You would be crazzzzy to fix this one Nick. Even if all of the parts are there and available? You guys need to talk to my dad about rust repair. He just finished welding back together a 70 Chevelle. The firewall and roof from one car (with the floors and quarters gone) and the rest from another car (interior fire warped the roof and firewall). That cowl/door jam rust scares me.

Hey Nick, you're welcome! ;D As a finders fee, I'll accept the rear bumper.... BTW, those who didn't attend the Frankenmuth Autofest yesterday and today, missed a great show. A few mystery 65's showed up there this weekend, A Light Blue Hard Top, and a Silver Vert. Not able to locate the owners, but very nice. In all there were four 65's that I saw, two, of them I knew from previous years. No 64's that I saw).... Ted

Looking at these pics I have a question from the brain trust. It the location of the power window switch the correct factory location for the rear, on the arm rest?
I know this might not apply by my hardtop has the switches in the doorpanel in the rear. That is the location of my switch in my vert and to be honest, I can't remember seeing the rear seat switch location on any other 65's with power windows. This is the first time I've seen that switch location on the arm rest, it would be interesting to know for sure. Was it a Lansing v. Fremont thing?

If you decide to part it out, I'd be curious how much you want for the exterior chrome off both sides and a few other parts. Thanks.

How do you explain the V8 in the VIN? It couldn't have both.

We all know that GM did some pretty crazy stuff in the 60's, so anything's possible.
We also know that Documentation wasn't their strong point, hense all this speculation... Another good reason for forums like this, to discover and publish...

I know this is a little off of the subject but, why does Oldsmobile not have any documentation like you can find with the Pontiac Historical Society? Did Oldsmobile just not keep that good of records? I can not believe that someone (former Oldsmobile employee probably) does not own or know where all of the documentation is on every car.

There is really no one answer. Some say there was a fire and the records were lost. Others say, no that's not the case, the records just weren't kept. In any event, there is no info on our cars. This place is it! I find it hard to believe that one division, Pontiac, can tell you anything and everything about your car, but not Olds. Olds of Canada can tell you all kinds of info IF you have an Olds built in Canada, don't know too many of those. Sucks.

I think there may have been a fire in Lansing in the records building and it was all destroyed.

There was a fire that destroyed some of the records and also, Olds opted to destroy a large portion of the remaining records for no apparent reason.

Contrary to what the voters recommended I put her on Ebay. Since I can't get to parting it out for a few weeks I figured what the heck. Only cost me $7 and I don't think it will sell so expect to see it parted here shortly.
