Does anybody have a photo their car with the windshield out, or a car with no windshield that you take a picture of? I need to replace the lower tray because it is starting to rust, and would like to see how the pinch weld and dash area comes together before I start so needed parts can be bought or made in advance. Thanks

There is no pinch weld. It goes from the cowl vent, right to the dash. Buy the new part before you start hacking and it will be pretty much self explanatory.

If I can pop the window out of my parts car I’ll send you a couple pictures. Just let me know the area your looking for.

actually if you go to the home page for this site and click on Ultra High compression which is just above where you click for the forums there is a picture of the front windshield channel and the rear window channel under the body shop heading of RamZ's resto. doc., not close ups but will give you an idea...

Thanks. I saw Jasen's photos, I was hoping to see one pre-repair, because I can't really see what I'm looking for in those pics. Trying to decide if I need to just pull the pad, or gut the entire dash before repair, and if I can do it with panel bonding adhesive, or welding is needed.

I did a Pontiac with panel bond, years ago and as far as I know it's still fine. But, you should still resistance weld it. With "Murphy's" law in mind, I'd at least remove the pad. But still, buy the new part first, so you can see how you need to do the cutting. I use 3M #8115 all the time for bonding things. You can also use #8223 but it's a lot faster set time.

Thanks. I'm a retired body shop owner but have never done that repair. My shops were in rust free Arizona. I swear by 8115, just used some today on my other project, a Pro-street build. It is my preferred method to install panels. I was hoping to bond the tray in and just weld the corners. Does it just overlap the dash?
