I am converting from Jetaway to 4 speed and selling the A/T radiator. Has anyone got info on the latest and greatest aluminum rads for a 65, 442? Also, input on pros or cons of electric fans would be appreciated. Thanks.

Why do you want an aluminum one? For looks and weight? Or do you think they cool better?

My 2 cents worth, why change radiators at all? Just plug the transmission line holes. If the radiator needs recored buy a new modern core, use the original tanks and use clutch fan instead of electric fans. I keep all my Oldsmobiles looking original and don't have overheating problems.

Why change radiators? Well, I am hoping to sell the original one to someone who needs it for a correct restoration with A/T. Why Aluminum? The cost of a new copper/brass replacement radiator in my area is two to three times that of aluminum, and my car is a driver, I want a new part, that can be trusted on long cruises. I also live in a very warm climate, and want maximum cooling for the stock size radiator.
My car will remain completely original on the exterior, right down to the hubcaps, but I prefer to have modern cooling, brakes and suspension.
Hope that answers your questions. If someone knows where I can get an stock replacement, heavy duty cooling, copper/brass radiator for a reasonable price, please let me know. Thanks.

I think I bought mine through OPG (original parts group) it was a 4 row vs the 3 row, so a heavy duty radiator with bigger tanks if I remember correctly? Wasn't cheap, so all depends on your definition of reasonable. I think I paid 400 or so a few years back.

$400-$500 is cheap compared to radiator shops around here. I have bought all new stuff for my 4 speed conversion, prices don't scare me, but I am looking for quality. How's the quality? Did you have to modify the stock mounts? Thanks.

Nope, slide right in perfect. Basically, it a radiator for an A/C car thus the 4 row. My car is an auto, but wouldn't suspect would be any real difference beyond the lack of auto trans holes at the bottom. No complaints thus far.
Side note: Do you own or work at a body shop?
