Does anyone have a good recommendation for a decent mechanical fuel pump for a 65 400?
Can't find a specific model# for a Carter, etc. There are a bunch that list the 425 and 330.
Are they all basically the same?
Thanks

Thank you. I found supercars unlimited also had one about $10 cheaper than fusick. They are also on the west coast so I figured that shipping would be faster.
Thanks for responding.

Got the fuel pump from supercars. The pressure side outlet is 9/16-20 which is for 5/16 line. Is this correct 3/8 to the pump and 5/16 from the pump to the carb?
Was a 1965 400 listed only pump.

I'm guessing from the pump I have to add a 3/8 npt to 5/8 inverted flare fitting adapter?

I got my pump from Fusick and the 3/8 line fuel-pump to Carb is available from inlinetube.com go to Brake and fuel lines choose your car, easy pick Pump from Fusick was for AC car and fit well, 3/8 fuel line may need some minor adjustment As far as I know there was no 51/16 fuel line for the 400 engine, only 3/8 got also the fuel line tank to carb as well as the brake lines from inline tube works well Attachments:

just installed my new fuel pump from Fusick...looks the same as the picture that sascha shows...turned the engine by hand until TDC...pump slid right in...hope it went in in the right place...no contact with anything????is installed with fuel line connections on top...just like the service manual shows and is also shown in sascha's pic...hope this is ri9ght...anybody...
not a criticism but I always thought filters were to be on the downstream side of the pump and not the suction side as shown in sascha's pic or does it matter?...just asking...

Sascha,
In your photo of the fuel pump it looks like you have a brass elbow coming out of the fuel pump, is that a street ell? what size?

I have that on mine as well. It's like a 5/16 npt to a 5/8 inverted flare for a 3/8 fuel line.

Ok thanks...now I just need to find one...been to all the local franchise parts stores with no success so far...even local ACE hardware which has the largest selection brass fittings didn't have anything I could use...
