I’m trying to fix a belt screach noise when I rev the motor. I removed the power steering belt and the noise is Still there so It must be something with a pulley since the belt is brand new and I believe it is adjusted tight enough. The car has three grove pulleys on the crank and water pump and two grove on the alternator and power steering pump. I’m going to remove the alternator belt to see if the noise does go away. I can’t imagine this noise to be anything but a belt related noise. Has anyone had a problem like this that was not the belt but instead was a bent or wrong type of pulley?

Put some rosin on the belt

I used a wire brush and sandpaper to remove paint and rust from the pulleys and that fixed the problem.
thanks bro for your help. If cleaning up the pulleys didn’t work I was going to try the belt dressing/rosin.

I've had this issue in the past and tightening the belt always eliminated it.
